Re: Skin Cancer Reaching Epidemic Status Half of all new cancers in the United States are skin cancers. First of all, NMSC (non-melanoma skin cancers, i.e., basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) ARE NOT included in the "official" cancer statistics each year. Why not? Because the official statistics include only "histopathologically confirmed" cancers and NMSC are not. The "bottom line" is that NMSC statistics are simply "guesstimates" from the dermatologists. If insurance companies and Medicare/Medicaid would require that NMSC were histopathologically confirmed in order to qualify for payment, the 1,000,000 "reported" NMSC would drop to 250,000 to 350,000 per year. What IS a real "epidemic" are the diseases medicated by vitamin D. |
