Re: Master Sun 360° vs. Magic 636 w/ Mug 6 Pay attention, Steve-LOL. When you overdrive a HID/hp sunlamp, the "plasma arc" gets too hot and "volitizes" the Hg (mercury) salts and they are adsorbed by the quartz envelope which results in a lowering of the UVB emission. After the lamp cools, the salts go back into a solid state (i.e., a fine powder instead of the "pellets" you see when the lamp is new) and the process occurs again and again and again..... When the HID/hp lamp is underdriven, the plasma arc is too cool and the Fe (iron) salts aren't completely volitized and this reduces the UVA emission. That's why cooling is so important for HID/hp sunbeds. Note to Millhouse and Natureboy. The MUG 6 absorption filter is made by Schott Glass in Germany via a very expensive and time consuming "deposition" process. Their glass (absorption filters & cutoff filters) are very good and also very expensive. The $3200 additional price is probably just a "pass thru" of the cost paid by Sun Italia. |
