Re: lamp and glass change in magic Gentlemen, if I may say a few words. Every once in a while, when new models of the more highend units come out, there is a discussion about "changing filter" glasses. This is not the first time I have posted on these issues over the years. Changing filters is not just a simple thing of making a change, which when I read this thread, it is about knowing exactly what to do, or you may be making a serious mistake. But first let me state that you first need to think about the reality of what you are doing without a written consent from the manufacturer and/or importer of record for the equipment: 1. Changing the filters will make the bed non-FDA compliant. 2. You cannot mix and match just any clear and blue glass, because, in some configurations the clear is the UVB filter, and in some it is the blue that is the UVB filter - and vice versa for the IR (infrared filter or heat shield) which means that you can serioulsy injure a customer which; 3. Makes you a wonderful target for a lawsuit because you have altered the unit. This is true even if someone is not seriously injured, simply sues you for a sunburn - you have nothing to fall back on, you made the change and no manufacturer will be able to help or assist you, nor should they be asked to do so. You are on your own. This is why it is unwise to even discuss matters like this in public. 4. The mirrored filters first used by Ergoline, and now by several others, is of course a stand alone filter and there is no reason to even discuss the properties of those. They are made for the particular unit they have been installed in and work just fine. So I urge all of you, in the name of professionalism, that if you feel the need to discuss a change of filter glasses, talk to your manufacturers direct representative/importer, not even a distributor, because for the most part they would not know, nor should they exchange filters without the expressed consent and supply by the manufacturer/importer of record. I say this with all due respect - to almost all the people - who have posted on this thread: You are playing with fire and logically you should conclude that this is not an intelligent thing to do.
