Re: Tan America LED Light Therapy brownsuze, Please don't misunderstand the difference between led tanning and led photorejuvenation as their is a HUGE difference. To start with, an LED (light emitting diode) is just another light source. Unlike a bulb, it lasts extremely long and the majority of energy that goes in comes out as light instead of wasted heat. UV light is still UV light, regardless if it comes from the sun, a light bulb or an led. What's different is the wavelength (color) being produced from the light source. Just like you can light up a room with a candle, light bulb or led, the room is still lit. One technology has it's advantages over the other. With led tanning, you will still get UV rays, the advantage to the salon owner is that you won't have to change the leds for 20 years, your electricity and air conditioning bill will go way down. The advantage to the tanner is they will receive an extremely consistent tan every single time they go in the bed. Also, since leds are very narrow band, it is possible to tune the amount of uva to uvb for different skin types from only one bed. This cannot be done with bulbs since they are wideband and just emit uv wavelengths in the entire spectrum. On the other hand, LED phototherapy stimulates collagen and elastin growth by using leds that emit red light, not uv light. Pure red light has been proven to stimulate collagen and elastin production just like uv light stimulates melanin production. Yes, it is possible to mix uv and red leds to produce melanin and collagen at the same time. |
