Hi all, After seeing all this talk, I decided to take to look into the issue of acrylic cleaners a bit more. It can be a difficult topic to research. Here are a few LOOKING FIT articles that address the topic: http://www.lookingfit.com/articles/regulatory/727_491regulator.html http://www.lookingfit.com/articles/equipment/74h249594828055.html Here is the link to South Carolina’s list of approved cleaners: www.scdhec.gov/health/radhlth/tanningsani.pdf. (I’m not sure when it was last updated). Salon disinfectants include EPA-registered, hospital-level, liquid disinfectant products that are virucidal, bactericidal and fungicidal. Tanning sanitizer should meet two criteria to be acceptable: 1. It must be a sanitizer or disinfectant (ingredients include a quaternary ammonium- not ammonia- compound, such as n-Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride) AND 2. It must be intended for use on acrylic (or tanning beds) or protective eyewear, as applicable. Cleaners containing ammonia—such as Windex or 409—should never be used on tanning bed acrylic. Products containing ammonia will cause a fogging of the acrylic which will block the transmission of UV rays from the lamps in the tanning bed. If you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me at jbizzozero@vpico.com). I'll do my best to get you the information you are looking for. And that goes for anything else you have a question or concern about—one thing the LOOKING FIT/TanToday staff would like to do on this site is help you find the answers to the questions that you post. If we don't know, we'll take those questions to someone who can answer them and report back. |
