Hmmmm...that should be the other way around. Proper sanitation is to remove 99% of pathogens on a surface. It usually consists of removing any debris, bacteria, viruses, etc., from a surface with some kind of cleaning agent.
Disinfection destroys harmful microorganisms on a surface--which sounds similar, but isn't the same. It usually consists of using an EPA registered, hospital grade disinfectant on a surface for 10 minutes (although directions differ by the manufacturer.)
Sterilization is the removal of all living organisms and pathogens from a surface, but this is an unnecessary step in a salon environment.
Although they do sound similar, they really are very different things. There's a teeny, tiny, microscopic world of a difference between sanitizing and disinfecting.
