Re: McCain our friend?
I'm not saying I'm for McCain or not.
But bottom line is - melanoma is real.
The issue is -- the BROAD SCALE WORRY about it is contrived!
As noted - McCain was a:
1. Fair skinned person
2. Subjected to 5.5 years of ridiculous conditions within a Vietnamese POW camp!
This is hardly "typical"! HIS melanoma MAY have been caused by OVER exposure during his POW detainment.
It may also have been brewing from overexposure during his childhood and perhaps the stress or poor diet or LACK OF EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT or other factors that may have taken place during his detainment were the "catalyst" for his condition to develop into melanoma.
Maybe it was caused by the combination of living down below in a boat in the Navy (lack of exposure to sunlight) and working on the deck (incredible exposure, reflecting off the water and ship's metal skin).
Maybe it runs in his family and has nothing to do with any of the above.
The issue is - someone needs to help educate him that "everyone stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen" may not be the best overall health message he can communicate - and perhaps it would be better for him to remain a politician, not try to play physician.
