Parabenes are synthetic preservatives that are usually used in combination of methyl-, propyl- and butylparabenes in order to be most effective. They are known to cause irritations to sensitive skin types. They were also found to cause heart tissue problems over an extended time period. They are known to have oestrogenic effects in the body and are under discussion to influence breast cancer.
