It has been a while since I hooked up one as well.I usually hook it into the kill switch.Take one wire out of the kill switch and twist it together with one tmax contact wire.And take the othor tmax wire and install it into the now empty side of the stop switch.If this set up is right(I can confirm tommorrow) when you put time on the tmax you should get a red light that comes on that says "enable".This is on the board.

The voice can be turned down.If you look at the board carefully ,near where the speakers plug in ,you will see a small plastic screw.Start the bed up and while she is talking turn the screw until the desired level is reached.
