First of all...I start with the floor..have a seat..... get your techs all gathered around, sodas and go for it...One by one I get a bottle of lotion explain whats in it , what it does and how much it costs...
if they dont know all that...they cant sell it...period!!! So knowledge of the products are number 1...
also every monthly package we have one must purchase a bottle of lotion or they pay full fare for the month instead of a giant discount...usually the same or a bit less then the lotion cost...on the base beds...they must buy $20. or more in a bottle to get the great special for the month package...so ya gotta hype that up to the clerks to help the customer to pick the package for them...
No time for pms here (and I am a lady) if a tech is having a crappy day...i dont want to hear it...if they are sick...send em home if u can or get a replacement...as the butts of every customer that comes in our salon must be kissed from the moment they enter to the second they leave...we are here for them...with out em we have NO business...this is not a game and I have NO bubble gum chewers here...this is business with a giant smile...
So the next thing is...learn to spot your customers...and this is huge...if they drive in a lexus or something of that nature...always sell from the TOP of your line down...rich people will spend the money if its a great product...but they also will NOT throw there money away on crap...they are type I...type II, is...whatever mrs. smith has...no matter the cost...I need one too..also start at the highest cost lotion and when someone passes by and they say...wow is she tan..tell them exactley how YOU got them that way...type III really can't afford it but will splurge on themselves to pretend they can..so lets pretend...and start in the middle of the line as you really want them to be able to buy a large package of tanning also...and type IV is teens...start in the middle to high as well...as most of them their parents give them their money and they have to look great so they too will buy the lotion because they heard it was great....and then the MAIN thing is to LISTEN.....they will tell u what they want and if not then start the music.... and put on those tap shoes...and go for it...
Also you can tell a lot by the clothes the wear..if the are all sparkly...find those kinds of bottles...as it sometimes doesnt matter if it works for them or not...they like the bottle...or if the say let me smell it...let em...even if its not going to work for them either...GIVE them what they want....no selling on those kind...just collect the money...easy sale...
Then NO matter what...when they get down to the end of the last bottle...go for the hip and get them upgraded...as we know that we tan 60% faster then without and retain it 60% longer with moisturizer as well...so they need that as well....to protect their skin...Now sell em that too...most buy from the silkiness of the mousturizer or the smell or once again the color of the bottle as it will look nice on their dresser.....now you have the stuff... sell the tan package...and kiss, kiss, kiss....we want them back...to many other places to go...and U know why they should come back??!!!... but YOU have to SHOW them why....class, attitude, friendliness, compliments galore...and most of all...give them what they pay for...and it will reward you ten fold...your name will be around..as most tanners hang with tanners...and keep those bulbs fresh....because if they dont buy lotion to achieve their goal as fast as they can and dont tan...then we know why...dead bulbs...and I will shut a room down if I have 1 bulb out...NO ONE will see one of my beds with a bulb out...period!! everything is 100% perfect and clean or the door gets locked accidently or the day manager took the keys home...so if u only have that room open in their package upgrade for their trouble...that will get around too....ALL GOOD!!!
