Default summer

I am curious to know on how slow it really is during the summer months so i am well prepared. I hear from salons in the edmonton area, that is is much slower, but still some what busy, and steady. This is my first year with the salon so I am curious to know what is ahead. I am mostly curious on the Canadian side of things as the American's tend to be rather negative about the market.

The average salon will do 70% of their Business in Dec-May and only 30% in June-November..It will drop off no matter were you are, but the percentage might be slightly different.

Save everything and get through one slow season and see from there. Just because you make a tonne in the next few months DONT OVER SPEND!!

In Saskatchewan we are steady until the end of June. July-Nov is deathly slow for me anyway. It may depend on your equipment mix too. We don't have EFT and focus on HP so, when we are slow we are really slow. When we are busy we are insane busy, like 60-70 HP a day alone right now in my bigger store.

Kinda like the weather here. One extreme to the next. -55C with wind chill this morning.

Sorry for my stupidity but what is HP? Yesterday here it was -38 and I thought for sure it would be crazy busy, which it was until 6pm then nothing. I guess sometimes u can never predict what will happen.

I don't think it has anything to do with not having EFT. we are excatly the same in pricing and almost the same where equipment is concerned but my slow season doesn't drop off near as much as natureboy's. my slow season is Sept and Oct. june july august are about the same, just slightly down from May. However, I'm in a vacation destination and sell swimwear. but local tans stay fairly steady too.

Though we have way more people here going to Mexico and such to escape the cold in Dec-Feb then people in BC I bet. In Edmonton, should be similar to me.

those are beauties natureboy. WOW!!!!!! Yes its very busy right now, and I hear its still relatively steady over the summer, with the slowest month september. This is what i have heard, so thats not too overly bad. I was expecting utterly dead. But i will expect the worse, just to keep some money saved up.

I suppose we'd have to compair numbers to know, we have a ton going too. People want to get away from the rain. Infact people say they'd rather deal with cold in Alberta if it meens sun, instead of the constant drizzle here.
