Default Stand up vs Lay down

I took a salon in November and eventually would like to replace the beds. Still in good shape, and working well, but something more modern and HP would be an asset. So now I currently have 2 level 1 beds, 2 level 2 beds, and then 2 hex stand ups. All are very popular with everyone depending on the person. Some only do the hex and some only do level 2's. So now my question is, when i replace one of them, which one do i replace and with what. A lay down HP or a stand up HP.

Now I don't want 3 stand up's for sure, so If i replaced a stand up with a HP lay down, that is my thought. Any input on which one I should replace!!!!!

This just in from the Grammar Police:

Main Entry: lie
Part of Speech: verb 2
Definition: be flat
Synonyms: be prone, be recumbent, be supine, couch, laze, lie down, loll, lounge, nap, prostrate, recline, repose, rest, retire, siesta, sleep, sprawl, stretch out, turn in
Antonyms: stand
Notes: to lay is to place something; to lie is to recline

I would dump the Hex. They are so tiny, and the cages, ick...

Other than my imput, whichever brings the least amount of money!

And yes, its a LIE down, hens lay, people lie.

There is like only one place in Edmonton (if you are actually IN Edmonton) with HP. If you got some new 360, you would make a killing with it. Provided you knew how to market it.

How do you market your HP equipment? I am guessing just basic advertising is good. Where did you purchase your equipment from? Does the disty you bought from, come and set everything up for you? Do they do an exchange of some sort, where they take your existing bed?

That is a loaded question on these boards as even the few Canadian guys will jump on that. So I will not name them here.

HP can be difficult if you don't understand it. You really need your whole salon geared towards it. You can't sell minutes in your other beds and then have sessions in your HP seperate.

Best I can recommend is to read all the searched threads on HP before you consider it.

What are the beds that you have? I'd keep the 2 base beds for the cheapies and they'll make your new upgrade level 2s look better. I'd lose a stand up. Once you get bigger better lie downs, nobody will want to use the 2 stand ups.

yes 6 rooms is all i have. No room for expansion as its up to the max. The beds I currently have are 2 hex 40 lamps, 160 W,

2 Sunal Profiline 30 lamp 100 W, and 2 Sonnenbraune Klassik 35 lamp 100W. They are older beds and eventually I would like to have them all replaced, and I would like to bring in a HP, but not sure as of yet if I have a good market for it in this town. 3 salons thus far, and a population of about 50 000, so not a bad size. My problem is people get confused as its old school here.

Nothing to be confused about if you explain an HP properly. And try to have it in a room closest to the front that they can see and pique their interest. Double doors works well for that too. You could replace the 2 Klassiks with some 160W VHRs, and replace one stand up with an HP.

Your level 1 and level 2 are one and the same with the exception of 2 facials.....and 2 tube lamps which is no difference.

Keep the ones with your facials as your base beds and charge a bit more than the others...don't be scared....like $10-$12/session. and 2 46-52 lamp 160W VHR's with facials something that will get you $18/session.

Then add an HP 360 laydown at $35/session

and keep 1 Hex (which you will eventually change for a good standup that's 200W+ like a suncapsule)

Then you are rocking away as a killer salon.....6 beds is all you need and you can handle over 100 ppl a day.

And if you buy used equipment you can do Din's setup way cheaper than what you might think it would cost.

Yuppers....

A good VHR bed will go about $6k-$8k each used.

A good HP 360 laydown will be about $15-$20k....you can start with a used mattress HP like a SS2021 or UB818 for like $3k-$5k which there are a few on here in the trading post... and then make the money and change that out to a newer 360 when you can afford it.

If I add in a 46 - 52 160W VHR I will more than likely have to combine a room, as I honestly doubt my rooms are big enough for that except where my one stand up is currently at, and that is where I am going to place my HP bed when I get one. I haven't measured the rooms, however I currently have 35 lamps in my Klassik and if I go with a 50 lamp VHR, then more room will be needed for sure.

Are you in a small town outside of Edmonton? Or are you really in Edmonton? A good HP salon in Edmonton would make 400K gross a year easy.

I am in Stony Plain which is 20 min outside of Edmonton. The whole as an area population is roughly 50 000. No other salon has any HP here in town.

Recommended room side for a big VHR is 9x9 but you can fit them in an 8x8

HP i recommend a 12x12 but you can fit it in a 10x10.

What are your room sizes?
