Default Teen Tanning ban on the way for Ontario ?

A Private Members Bill has already had it's first reading in the Ontario Parliament on May 28th. The Bill wants to ban tanning in tanning salons in Ontario for those under 19 years of age. Bill 83 will go for it's second reading sometime soon. To see Bill 83 go to the address below and scroll down to 83.

BASTARDS...they allow them if a doctor prescribes it. FAKEM...doctors are idiots. How can 2 doctors get same schooling and one says it's good and the other says it's bad.

A Private Members Bill is not a law and is not started by a Cabinet Minister, but it certainly can generate enough interest from the Cabinet members to get them to start the process to make it law.
In this case I think it could be stamped out with the right information. At some point those with an opposing position, such as salon owners, are allowed to state their case, but timing and the correct protocol must be followed.
It might take a bit of money and someone like JCTA to go through the process but I am sure there is enough information available to show that banning teens will not provide the expected result. Need to get Steve Gilroy on the case.

Ontario salons looking to the JCTA to fight on their behalf need to be supporting the JCTA financially. Membership is very affordable and the impact the JCTA has made with the money raised so far has been quite impressive.

Talk to Steve Gilroy if you want to find out more about the JCTA or check out Welcome to JCTA or TanAwareness.com

Hi, The attached 70 page report is being sent to every member of the
>House of Commons Standing Committee on Health with a request that a Royal

Dear sir,you seem to be an educated intelligent individual who has chosen
to serve the people of Ontario, and I do respect that.Unfortunatly there is a
terrible amount of misinformation wich you and the genral public has been
given in respect to sunlight.Sunlight, AKA ultraviolet radiation wich has
been around since the dawn of time.

The main source is the sun, second tanning beds. I urge you to read the attached letter and reconsider if you are truly serving the needs of your constituants by proceeding with your "skin cancer bill".

Also if you can foward to me even ONE study that shows moderate
exposure to either the sun or tanning beds causes skin cancer I would truly
like to read it .

You see I have been in the tanning industry for 23 yrs and
have yet to see even ONE study that shows moderate exposure is bad.Everyone
agrees overexposure is bad,but all studies show that moderate exposure has a
tremendous number of health benifits.Especially in light of the avalanche of
positive info on vitamin d ,do you think this is the time to join the
sunscare coalition?Do you want your legacy to include that you were
responsible for launching such a bill ? Especially when we as Ontarions have
to already pay a "health tax" despite the Premires promise of NO NEW
TAXES.

Do you think that if we did not live in a vitamin d deficicient
society we would have to spend what we spend on health care? So please do
all of your homework, ask those who elected you if they would rather have
their teenage son or daughter using a tanning bed or paying more for health
care?As well of suffering thru the diseases associated with viatmin d
definciency.

And yes despite what you have problembly been told TANNING BEDS
DO PRODCE VIT D !You as an elected individual could be slapping down on the
Premiers desk report after report that shows if a persons vit d levels were
higher health cost would go down and people would remember you as that .
Thank you very much for your time, and have a great day!

Steve Williams

Okay people, if we as Ontario Salon owners need to take a stand, How can I do my part. Can Chronos Marketing help to manufacture any documentation to show this SCAM of a bill is wrong. I'm sure we'd have to present our case, studies, etc... on how there is benefit in tanning.

Can someone forward this 70page report that is circulating that Mo said to print and present.

If this is something Chronos Marketing can do to benefit tanning salons in Ontario, we're all for it.

info@chronosmarketing.com

I know a few news anchors for CFTO, CITY, GLOBAL......send me that report, i'll do my best to get this in the public eye.

Thanks
Dean

I think they should start with beach patrols if they really cared about their skin.

Thank you UV2021 and Din, for posting the PDF file. The report - " SunScare, A Crime Report " is an effort to get an investigative action started in Canada. It includes the most recent statistics on the cost in human lives, disability and the economic burden caused by Vitamin D Deficiency in Canada.
It is also a great teaching tool for salon owners, their staff and their clients since it documents and explains much of the conflicting and contradictory information reaching the public. The scientific and technical specifications are described in a manner that is easily understood.
I hope others will support the call for an investigation of the fraud of SunScare.

BREAKING NEWS. Health Canada has announced that they will commission a study of Vitamin D Deficiency. The commitment will be formalized late in 2008, will take a year to complete, along with time to evaluate and implement any recommendations. This could result in 3 to 5 years delay before the public begins to receive advice.

Further to this announcement, I understand that it will be conducted jointly with the National Institute of Health in the U.S.A., and will cost a million dollars. The objective of the study will ONLY be to determine recommendations of HOW MUCH supplementary vitamin D should be taken daily.

HOWEVER - THAT STUDY MAY ALREADY BE OBSOLETE !

I presume that whoever undertakes the study will have to request data from some ( or all ) of the most pre-eminent Vitamin D researchers in the field. Fourteen of these experts have already published a " Call to Action" statement and they declare that a recommendation of 2000 IU per day is a reasonable, effective and safe level. They also state that any delay is costing thousands of lives unnecessarily each year. To access this statement, go to
Untitled Document

MORE IMPORTANT - The Health Canada study will NOT address the fraud that created Vitamin D Deficiency. In other words, the devastating results of the most damaging health advice in history will not be explained.
World-wide, ordinary people will want to know - How could this happen? How could intelligent, well-educated , knowledgable leaders be so deceived? Or, worst still, Knowingly deceive us.

Please forward the report to anyone you think will be helped by the information. Thank you. Mo

Mo -

That is a very easy-to-read report, and something I would recommend EVERY salon owner download and print and make their staff read (quiz them!). It LOOKS long, but it is a very quick read and gives a very layman's understanding to some of the issues - and misinformation.

Good for you on being a "squeaky wheel" on this topic!
