Default Keeping old client records???

Prior to going computerized years ago, we used the old client cards. I have them dating back 14 years. And I need some space... any idea how long we have to keep them for?

For what purpose? Are you talking about sales records for audit purposes? If so, I believe in Canada 7 years.

No not for audit purposes.. these are the cards that kept track of there visits, how often, for how long and the original release they signed. The ones I have in backroom, clients have signed new release forms. But when is it ok to get rid of their tanning history?

7 years for audit purposes....other than that, it's your salon, you can get rid of them whenever you want.

If you have them totally alphabetized in a box so you could fine one in a hurry if you needed I would keep them two years then I would use them to start your campfire next time you go camping.
