I am inquiring about insurance here. My insurance is up for renewal and I am curious to know what is out there for options. I am currently with Premier Marine, and they don't have the cancer clause anymore and the rates went up. I have checked out sport and fitness and they want me to be a smart tan member for $385 in order to save $500. I have the certification, and thats not good enough apparently, but I am curious to know what other options may be available.

Smart tan also gives you JCTA.Who supports up here in front of the govt.Only 10% of CDN salons are members.Yet when when the GOVT starts kicking us around ,who comes to the rescue. The JCTA.So support them and feel proud about it.This is a no brainer.Don't be part of the 90 % of salons who all scream when we have a problem and don't support the JCTA.

I will be looking foward to seeing your name on the members list.

The same message goes out to all the other eyeballs on this who are not members. The JCTA needs your support. If they had the money they needed when the crap hit the fan at the end of July they could have reacted with force, but because 9 out of 10 salons don't think past their front door until something like that happens there was no $$$ to fight with.

And smart tan has benifits that make it worth your $$$.

^^ What he said ^^ Absolutely. I met Steve Gilroy (JCTA Exec Director) recently when he came to Ottawa to discuss the local teen tanning ban (yes, the city wanted to do it too) and I watched him in action. That in itself was worth the membership fees because the guy really knows his stuff and is passionate about the business. If properly funded this team will do wonders for the Canadian tanning industry.
Back to insurance - I went with LMS ProLink because they give a deal with JCTA and SmartTan membership. Once I added everything up the insurance, JCTA and SmartTan total didn't cost a lot more than what I was paying Sport & Fitness earlier. So to me it's a no-brainer - good insurance AND a lobby group that actually works for the salon owner.

The LMS Prolink rates with your JCTA/SMART TAN membership are very competitive. The savings will usually pay for your combo membership with the JCTA and Smart Tan.

If you are not a JCTA member I would urge you to become one. We are "your" voice when it comes to dealing with politicians and we need your support.

Last year was a busy year for the JCTA and the costs involved in paying for a lobbiest and travelling around the country to represent salons left us in the red for the fiscal year. We had built a bit of a rainy day fund but we need to replenish our funds to continue this fight.
