Default Computer Problem - Jim

I'm trying to repair a computer that at the last time it tried to turn on nothing would come up on the screen. And before that it would come up with some issues on the screen with a blue background. The employees would turn the computer on and off and the error would go away for a while. There was a new hard drive put in the computer less then a year ago by the Geek squad.

I took it apart and found a bad capacitor on the mother board and change it out. Turned back on and the fans would come on for a brief period and then cut out. Traced the problem back to the power supply. Got a new supply and turned back on . Fans now run real fast but still nothing coming from the screen. I know the monitor is good but even having the computer hooked up it wont even acknowledge the monitor. The indicator light still stays yellow.
Any suggestions?
Bad mother board?

I have one that does this as well. It's just an extra one but it would be nice to have it able to run.

if you had one bad cap, you might have more even though you can't see it. A chip could be toasted now as well

when you turn on the PC the motherboard makes some beep?
If yes, how many? Long or short? you could find the error.

Jim just buy you a new computer and be done with it. If the Geek Squad fixed it that is your problem.

OK I'm assuming you did this but did you remember to insert the power plug into the hard drive as well and if so make sure it's not loose. You might also want to try a different one there should be several. Is it a SATA drive?

even if you fix the capacitors it's no good as your main system.

if you have an extra video card, try that. If that doesn't help, it's probably the mother board.
