I got no notice. I stopped the monthly fee paying at the beginning of this year (after the previous owners paid over $3K in monthly fees and I got ZERO help from support). It's a legitimate copy - my name and salon are on the software. I don't use internet access with it and I don't use EFT. I don't see HOW they could render my dongle useless unless it was already programmed into the software to begin with.

So Helios provided software, saying it would work even w/o paying for support, yet they built in an autodestruct? I'm even happier I haven't been paying them since the first of the year.
They have my info - it hasn't changed. I have no desire to waste time contacting them. |

What is so hard to understand ??
They are blocking only UN-authorized users of the software. It's called protecting their assets. I've seen V11 dongles for sale here many times in the past. Do you think that those who bought them are now authorized licensees of the software ? No. That's who gets dropped with a program such as this.

I just sold a copy of Quickbooks on Ebay. Oh noes!
My 11.6.1 was sent to my name, my address, my salon name. Nothing has changed. When I reboot it shows my name and my salon's name. They have no right to make me jump through hoops to make it work. Are they are automatically sending new dongles to registered users? That is the only thing that would be even close to legit. |

Dear Helios V11 User,
Last year we extended our V11 Software Audit so we could coordinate it with the rollout of our latest release of Helios - Version 12. The Software Audit requires that current V11 software will need to be updated along with the copy protection device (dongle) prior to October 1, 2009 in order to avoid any service interruption. All Helios customers who originally received their Helios V11 software from us are eligible for this update regardless of whether or not they are currently on an active Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA). Those who fall into this category are recognized as an "Authorized User" of our product based on the terms and conditions of our Software License Agreement (SLA). Any business that is using Helios V11 and did not receive it from Helios is considered an "Unauthorized User" of our product and are in violation of our SLA. These businesses are not eligible for this update and would need to contact our sales department at 888.936.5160 to discuss getting an authorized copy of Helios. All Authorized Users of V11 need to go www.gohelios.com/v11update and complete the electronic request form. V11 updates including a new dongle will be sent out within two (2) weeks along with a UPS return shipping label. Customers will have thirty (30) days to return the old dongle with the provided UPS shipping label. All customers on an active SMA are eligible to request their V12 upgrade at this time as well. Customers requesting the V12 upgrade should allow up to six (6) weeks before receiving their upgrade conversion date. Upgrading to V12 requires additional paperwork to be filled out and the conversion process will need to be scheduled with one of our technicians. I believe the shipping and handling is free for customers on active SMA’s and only those who are not active have to cover the S/H. At least is the way I understand it.

So I have to give them a credit card number because I don't have a service agreement and pay $13 and give them access to charge me if they claim they didn't get my current dongle?? No freaking way it costs $13 to send a dongle. I'll move over to another program before October - was going to anyway, this just puts me into faster motion

i can`t believe some people who complain about shipping of 13.00 UPS or not they have to insure these dongles too. in other words you want to use the software and want them to ship you a dongle for free. Get real Have you actually checked to see what the shipping would be from Indy. Shipping + insurance. Do you think Helios is making a profit on the shipping charges??
