Default Computer Problem

Ok when we start up the computer in the morning the first thing that comes up automatically is the Search screen. Like you are searching the computer for a certain file or something. Anyway this screen just flickers and you cannot exit out without it coming right back up about a second later.

The only way to stop it is to hit Control Alt & Delete and when the Task Manager screen comes we just exit out of the Task Manager without doing anything. This now allows us to exit the search screen and stops it from flickering and we can go on business as usual.

So it will always do it on start up. We are running XP and I cant figure out how to keep this screen from coming up.

Any thoughts?

go to
start panel
click on run
type msconfig then hit ok

system configuration pops up
go to start up
click disable all
then apply
youll be asked to restart select yes

once restarted another box pops up telling you what you just did
select dont show me this again and close it

what this does is stop programs from loading as soon as the computer is turned on...

its a good starting point

PS whatever needs to start instantly still will...like antivirus stuff..and whatnot

Start--> All Programs --> Startup

See if anything is in that folder. Something could have been corrupt and the search box is in there like 100 times and it keeps opening it.
