| I just got an email from the producers of MythBusters, Discovery Channel: On Wednesday July 4, 2007, one of the shows biggest viewing days of the year, the Discovery Channel will re-air an episode of a primetime television show that proved tanning beds DO NOT microwave consumers. During this episode, Craig Joyner, president of San Francisco-based Great Tan and Sorrento Sun Center and I assisted the production crew of "MythBusters," in disproving the urban legend about the microwaved tanner. Joyner, series hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman and I challenged the microwaved tanner legend by placing two raw chickens in a tanning bed for an hour. As anticipated, at the end of the lengthy tanning session, viewers from across the United States and abroad will learn that tanning beds will not affect the tanner beyond the outer layer of the skin. I was also given the opportunity to explain to viewers about the science and advanced technology involved in the indoor tanning process. Although originally produced in 2003, this timeless episode continues to air a minimum of four times a year across the United States and 151 other countries. Discovery Channel has a primetime audience of nearly 1,000,000 viewers between the ages of 18-49. Be sure and check your local listings for times...

Wait, can't prove a negative. So the myth would have to be that tanning beds DO produce vitamin D. Guess what, that myth will be "Confirmed". Or another good one would be the myth that sunscreen doesn't block vitamin D production. Since it can easily be shown that it does, that myth would be "Busted". |

This gadget: http://www.solarmeter.com/model64.html ![]() 2. Blood test for 25(OH)D before session and 24 hours later. They could also do a parallel test with sunscreen SPF 15 to see how it blocks D3 production. Tell'em Rick! |
