Had a client call this morning whose last month on our EFT was last month. He noticed this month he was charged $5.50(our freeze amount). I looked up his account and showed his last payment as of 8/1. Asked if anyone else was on his account, and 1 was, also cancelled effective... Yep they suck.

Told him let me do a little research and get back to him.

Ran a report in our CC program(pc charge pro) and noticed his card was charged. Luckily they run in alphabetical order so I can could narrow it down to 1 or 2 people.

Sure enough, this guys CC info was under another clients account and he's actually been paying for the other guy for the last 5 months.(he just noticed this months)

I called him back, explained that an employee must have accidentally put his CC info under this other guys name also, and did the right thing and told him it's been going on the last 5 months. Told him I'd have a refund check for those 5 months waiting on him here at the salon. I also threw in a $20 gift card as an apology.

He was cool with it, but now I'm out a couple hundered bucks and can't even take it out of the employee, because she's no longer here.

Thought about calling the original guy on the account, but don't feel it right to tell him I'm gonna charge him $200 for something that wasn't his fault and he hasn't even been tanning in the last 3 months.

I'll start with a few things i do that make my customers feel special

1. Starting in October I decorate the salon each month for the appropriate holiday and I hide ornaments in certain rooms. If they find the ornament they bring it to the front desk and get entered into a drawing for free tanning. the more they tan the better their chances are to win that month's prize. This brings them back to the register so the girls have another chance to sell to them.

2. Birthday club- Helios flags their birthday so the girls know to wish them a Happy birthday and they get to tan fro free that day. This gets them to try the better beds and usuallygets them hooked to the higher levels Plus we slip a birthday card under the door which has a 30% off coupon this stimulates some add on sales( they usually redeem the same day)

3. I consider this a basic but I am the only salon out of 6 in the area to have EFT pricing. i guess it's not so basic if they are not doing it.
