I am new to this industry and I am currently looking into a possible lease location.
There is currently 5 tons in the 1700 sqft building. I assumed I would need around 15 tons++ to make it sufficient for 10 room salon.
Today I had 2 reputable commercial AC installers come out to the location and look at the current AC and electricity to give me an estimation on how much more upgrades I would need. Needless to say neither could give me a straight answer. One knew nothing about the electric capacity and the other said that would have to be at a different time. One also was trying to persuade me into individual room ACs as opposed to just adding 10 more tons of rooftop AC.
Can someone tell me "what is it that I am missing in the communication?' How come neither of these companies could tell me how much 10 tons of AC would cost? I understand that additional cieling ductwork and ventilation would be an additional cost. However, why wouldnt they tell me what the 10 tons would cost?
Do I need to have an electrician &/or general contractor who specializes in the tanning industry come out to this location and give me an estimate?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks:confused:

Using Credit Cards vs. Equipment Leasing

Lease 1: $20,000. $685/mo (+$55 tax) for 48 mo. Plus 500 processing fee
Lease 2: $13,000. $750/mo for 24 mo. Plus 200 processing fee

I did the calcs, and it looks like an equivalent 33-34% APR on the leases, so I'll pay less overall if I use my credit cards. I heard the disadvantages of using CC's is that I'll tie up my available credit and lower my FICO score. Also, is it true you can deduct the entire lease payments from your taxes, but with credit cards, you can deduct your interest and depreciation? And why is one lender charging me sales tax when the manufacturer didn't?

Which should I choose?

I am hoping for feedback from owners who opened additional salons. I am wondering if it is a better move to relocate to a better location, add more equipment, and possibly expand to include other services besides tanning OR open a second tanning only salon in a second location. The second location is nearer the competition but one salon in the area has recently closed due to poor management. The complaints we hear about the open salon is long waiting periods and rude employees. They are probably the oldest salon in town. It is in a much better location than our present one. I just think any profit being made now will have to go into additional staff for 2 locations since the owner cannot be in 2 places at one time. A family member owns the salon I work at and I'm just not sure all things are accounted for in making a decision like this. Any examples of your experiences would be much appreciated.

Currently all beds are on the 3 phase panel and the rest of the salon is running on the single phase panel.

I have 4 beds right now and getting 2 more.

bed 1 draws 17A single phase.
bed 2 draws 46A single phase.
bed 3 draws 46A single phase.
bed 4 draws 40A 3 phase.

bed 5 will draw 48A single phase
bed 6 will draw 66A 3 phase.

I had 3, yes 3 MASTER electricians come to give me quotes for an upgrade. ALL of them said I have enough power. They all said that the "legs" need balancing but I have enough juice to power everything!?!?

My question to all of you....does this make sense? I know they are all master electricians but something doesn't seem right here. And yes, I checked their certifications, all with min. 15 years exp..
