So I relamped my Tanses TX52 (160W R) and did a reading. It jumped up to 80 in the first minute then was fluctuation around 65 and then down a bit. When I went for a tan I took the meter with me and it was reading 40. I think my meter is drunk.

All meters are born sober. Have you been breast-feeding it?

Actually... your new lamps are drunk. Their readings will stagger around up or down until their mercury balls quit swirling. They "burn in" or stabilize after a few dozen hours. Then take your "new" readings.

Okay, people keep using that bed. But the 32 lamp 100W R is reading 31.5 and the facials are 41.6 after 5 minutes.

Will there be much more difference if I let it go longer than 5 minutes?

I don't think anyone said what the average 32 - 100W reflector reading should be.

they are all different. Mine reads 38-39....others read 32-34 some people have theirs read 20-24

but from most that i hear they are in the low to mid 30's. That's for the non-Tanses beds.

Tanses i find read higher than most beds.

Your 100W reflectors read that high?

Mine read 31 I think when I put them in and I just got 22. Seemed low to me.

sorry....mine are NON reflectors...so they aren't as strong as the reflector ones. If i put reflectors in, it'll bump up a few more points.

they are 32 x 100w non reflector lamps.

when they are new they read 38-39.....after about 400-500 hours they were in the low 30's after about 750hours + hey are in the high 20's. heck...if everyone else start at the high 20's and degrade from there...maybe i should leave the lamps in them for like 2000 hours since they perform that well.
