| funnny. Just today I metered a bed with a 7.0 and it read way low. I looked inside and it had one of those cheap ass chineese batteries steve puts in there....so I put in a duracell... and still low...but the meter "nub".not a hole: had ick all over it... so ..."keep your holes clean" and...but some ****in duracels steve. |

| UV Geek Squad Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Lake St Clair Posts: 3,327 | Believe it or not... the cheap ass China batteries last YEARS in a Solarmeter because it draws nano-amps of current. So carbon-zinc from the 99-cent store is fine. Just don't put them in your mouth because they probably have lead paint. But do keep the sensor holes and nubs clean. Fat Matt sent me a 5.0 once to "fix" because it read low. The hole had like 5 years of ICK in it... looked like ear wax mixed with dust. Cleaned it and the reading went back up to original. |
