Default some basic questions for meter reading..

Hi...
ok i know im not the only one .. sooo here it goes.

I have a 5.0 never used it .. (please no sarcasm ) Thanks

soo... my questions are these..

1. what should the lamps be reading ??
2. how do you know when the lamps not performing at its optimal level?
3. how do you know what the range is for a new lamp?
4. and how much different should be with 100s of hours on it?
