Default Metering stand ups...

Do you sit the meter on the floor pointing up, lie it down pointing to the lamps, hold by hand where you'd be standing during the session?

I'm relamping my Cosmolux 160s with a Voltarc/9K90 mix. I want to get the before and after readings.

I put the meter on my belly button, stand in the middle, and do a 360. I then record the average.

That'll work - I guess. Close enuf.... just do it the same way every time.

Although more difficult... you can reach into the booth with door open just wide enough for your arm to stick in... and take readings at belly button height pointing at each bank of lamps. The readings will be higher than if you stand in the booth because your body is not blocking so many rays from bouncing around (reflecting) inside.

I'm gonna get a bucket, turn it upside down in the middle and set the meter on that pointing towards the lamps. Will that do?

Just stand in the damn thing and meter it. What the hell is the bucket going to do? It takes 5 seconds to record the numbers when you are metering it. You don't have to stand in the damn standup while it warms up. Set the time, after about 4min, go in the standup, close the door behind you and meter it. DONE.

Sandi I really wish you would have posts with more value. Everyone knows how to meter a stand-up

Don't use a bucket - it will block rays coming from below.

Hang a plumb string down center halfway from the top... hooked to a rubberband and coin holding the meter switch on. Then spin the meter at 5 RPM clockwise ....reading each bank as it rotates like a top. For best results climb a ladder and peer down from above.

OR - just do what DIN says. Wonder what Brian O would say haha.

It was 19 on the chair and then when I picked it up it went to 31. Now I'm blind.

I think I'd rather stick it in my belly button. *gag*

I told you... a bucket (or chair) will block some UV from the sensor.

Um.... if you can still read... what does it say on the upper label back side of meter ???

EyePro has clear UV block eyewear. Get a pair. Or at least use some amber colored (non-polarized) wrap around sunglasses.

My question is this though.....Even if the stupid chair or bucket worked....(wonderful idea) How the hell are you going to see what the meter is reading when you're sitting outside the standup?

Open the door and the UV light is not concentrated and not metering 100% accurate.

Are your walls to your standup CLEAR?

What the hell is going through your head Sandi? Are you a Newfie by chance?

The door was open about a half and inch and I could peak in. I didn't know setting it down on something threw it off...just thought the end with the sensor had to be facing the lamps.
