Hi Angelique,
I PM'd you to request a copy of your manual a few days ago...
I'm unsure if you received it. If not could you please e-mail me
a copy when you get a chance?

Thanks so much!

So what do you guys/gals think of the manual? Anything you would add or delete? Change?

Smile *sings* I get by with a little help from my friends...

Hello gang! How is everyopne doing this week? I hope you have all been as busy as I have!

Tonight I emailed out another 23 more copies of this manual to all you wonderful salon owners

I am thrilled with the responce I'm getting from salon owners who can really put this to good use!

I used to have this little picture on my wall of a circle with the word "it" in it (a round to it, get it? haha) This is one of those things that we all should have had/made/written from day one but never got "around to it"

I have to tell you about the responce I am getting form my employees I handed these out to all my employees after I had my local kinkos bind it is book form for me. I gave them a time limit to read it and sign the back page and turn it in. Amazingly enough even after they turned in their signed agreements I was still finding things like:
Jeans and tennis shoes being worn to work
employee cell phones ringing at work
employees getting personal calls at work
employees friends visiting them at work
employees sitting behind the front desk doing absolutely nothing or reading a book
undergarments showing
and oh how the list goes on and on

Sooooooo...
We slow to a halt Fridays at 7:00pm I decided to start closing early on Fridays at 7:00pm this past Friday... we now have Mandatory Employee meetings every Friday night from 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Can anyone guess what our first meeting was about? I'll give ya three guesses and the first two don't count haha!

We started going page by page over each topic in this new employee manual... discussing each one in detail and why they are important.

THEY LOVED IT! They can't wait until next friday! we got through page 13 and will resume where we left off next Friday (I make sure our meetings are promplty only 1 hour)

We also touched on agendas for Friday Night Meetings after we are finished with the manual... here is what we as a 'Team' came up with:

* Roll playing lotion sales to get better at selling
* Roll playing client telephone conversations
* Roll playing new client visits
* Product knowledge mini seminars featuring a guest speaker who was once the top lotion salesmen at his distributorship... my hubby John
(no longer selling lotions cuz I stole him for my very own)
* Safety meetings including visits from the fire chief and local police officer
* "Learning to upsell" a class on sales pitching
* Salon deep cleaning parties
* Promotions and sales goals

I was really happy to walk in on Friday night and find them all smiling and laughing instead of the "man this sucks, do we have to do this" attitude!

I'll keep ya posted!

Thanks again to everyone for your responces and interest in this subject! I have mailed this manual to over 55 interested salon owners so far! I wish you all the best making this manual work for you. Better employees make our salon image better .. and we all know that...

'Image is everything!'
