Free HP tan first visit!

What is wrong with people!!! Why do we constantly get calls "is your first tan in the high pressure beds free?"

Then they get mad when it isn't!!

I guess since HP here is so rare.

Unreal.. But .. I can do this for you.. Buy two sessions and ill give you one free.

Ive found that the ones that want the free session are loser pretty much and they are the 18 to 20 yr olds that dont have any money and want you to give it to them free.

Or the high school kids who go from salon to salon who offer first session free. That's how they get their tan for the prom. Shame on all those salons who offer a first session free.

A lot of what goes on anymore is like negotiating for a car. That is why you have to start high and work your way down.
Why not throw out whatever pricing you want, they will just tell you its too much and you have to negotiate anyways.

I combat it with my Tour special.. 1 session in each of the beds (4 levels) for $30 vs. $61 if purchased seperately. That way they can "test" all of the beds once to see what fits them. They have to be new clients and can only purchase once. It has really done well for us vs. giving free sessions and never seeing them again also helps with lotion sales since they will be coming back (easier to sell a bottle or even 4 packettes.)

We have many people ask about 1st tan being free. I always say no, but if it's free how good is the bed or the tan. I can offer you a single tan. I don't remember ever getting a free tan before I opened my own salon.

We get: ring ring "Hello, do you guys do free tanning?" all the time. lol yeah, that's what I'm in business for. My favorite is when I get an arab or indian calling and asking for free tanning. WTF? "I just like to try the different places out" Yeah, well go try the others out then.

I get those calls all the time too. I always tell them "yes we do", then when the dumb a$$es drive down to the salon I tell them "no we don't, you must have called a different salon"

If your stupid enuff to call me up on the phone asking me to tan you for free, well then your dumb enuff to waste 2 bucks in gas getting here!!!!!

We just brought in HP this past Feb. Our "Intro Offer" is buy 3 get one free. Working just fine so far. Of course, they can use any of the 4 levels off our points packages too.

Bahahhaaha, that's great. Cheap Bastards getting what they deserved. Sometimes I'll ask them if they work for nothing, or what they would say if thier boss asked them to work the day for free.
Had some indian call me once (same deal requesting free tanning) and they had my strip mall mixed up with a shopping center down the road (our center has a place with the name of the other center) I KNEW they were going down there, then they called when they got there about 40 minutes later."I'm by restaurant and I can't see you" Bwaahahaha! Me: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you're at the wrong place, we are about 8 miles up the road, but in this traffic that's going to be at least an hour." hahahaha. Suprised they still didn't try to make it, I think I told them I'd be closed by then.

wow, and i thought i was the only owner that felt this way about the clients looking for a first tan free. worse here is planet beach offering first 3 tans free!! more than a few clients i sign up...tell me they've tried them...but come to me, after they figure out it gives them 3x's to try and commit them to a contract. clients don't like th ehigh pressure sales!

Just tell them....our prices are so good, I'm practically giving away tanning for free. NO??? Okay then, Tell them, Have you been tanning in a bed before at a tanning salon? "YES" good, then what aren't you sure about in our beds? "I want to know if I like your beds." So do you go to a McDonalds that you haven't been to before and ask them for first Big Mac is FREE to make sure you are gonna like the one from them.

Do you see "NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION" on the sign outside?
"But you're gonna lose out !!!" Okay buy a $75 package which will give you X amount of sessions and I'll throw your first session in for Free.

NO? Still doesn't work? Tell them....Where do you work? " SO and SO" okay, give me "whatever their company offers" for free and I'll give you a free session. I can't get it for free.....AHAAA, why not? Cuz it cost's money? Well how about the HP bed you are asking to tan on for free that cost me $50K and the electricity to run it and the rent i pay to put the bed in for people to come and tan for free???? Work on a barter system.

Sill doesn't work....okay, bend over and I'll give you something for free. Still no? Send them to your competition and tell them, THEY OFFER FREE TANNING and tell them that I sent you. AHAHAHAHAH....just kidding.

Those are different instances that i have had and dealt with in those exact manners. It's pretty fun. Don't get frustrated...just keep asking them for something free. Tell them, can I have $20 for free from you? "NO, you are crazy" okay well that's what it costs me to run your free tanning bed....so why do you expect me to give you $20 for free, are you related to me somehow that I don't know? Do I owe you something?

All of these work great....even if you don't get them as a customer, it's fun to see their expression. Who wants them as a customer when all they want is FREE SH*T

We have always offered the first visit free to new customers(ten minute max in a intro bed) as a way of showing the difference between us and the competition. Usually after they try our beds they will buy a package and possibly lotion. Another positive for the bio-metric finger print reader, stopped people from coming in and changing their name, address, etc. and getting a 2nd and sometimes 3rd first visit free.
