Default What is Mug

Mug, I'm guessing, is a way of grading glass. Could someone explain this to me?

A fine German company named Schott uses beer mugs like this:

to craft HP lamp glass filters.

The old MUG-2 was made from two warm beer mugs and blocked a lot of UVB.

The newer MUG-6 is made from six frosted beer mugs and transmits more UVB.

They have many more MUG pieces you can find on a google search.

He found the answer hidden in my post. Did research and discovered the Schott site... and posted it too. They have all the MUGs on there. Try to find them.

I found 1-5-11 but not 6...

It was "UG" not MUG. What's the "M" for?

UG-11 blocks visible light. It is black.

Here is the correct page for M-UG 6:
http://www.us.schott.com/special_app..._text=M-UG%206
It even shows the 10% loss from "solarization" for Don and Werd.

And here is their tanning "machine" filter page:
http://www.us.schott.com/special_app...ass/index.html

So there. All Q's answered.
