| Good point, for the price, the glass should be choice, not a cost option. How much more could it really cost since you get some type of glass with it anyway? |

When you overdrive a HID/hp sunlamp, the "plasma arc" gets too hot and "volitizes" the Hg (mercury) salts and they are adsorbed by the quartz envelope which results in a lowering of the UVB emission. After the lamp cools, the salts go back into a solid state (i.e., a fine powder instead of the "pellets" you see when the lamp is new) and the process occurs again and again and again..... When the HID/hp lamp is underdriven, the plasma arc is too cool and the Fe (iron) salts aren't completely volitized and this reduces the UVA emission. That's why cooling is so important for HID/hp sunbeds. Note to Millhouse and Natureboy. The MUG 6 absorption filter is made by Schott Glass in Germany via a very expensive and time consuming "deposition" process. Their glass (absorption filters & cutoff filters) are very good and also very expensive. The $3200 additional price is probably just a "pass thru" of the cost paid by Sun Italia. |

| Veteran Join Date: Nov 2005 Posts: 292 | Speaking of voltage requirments for the Mastersun---I have 240 3 phase delta in my salon. Sportarredo will not warantee my new unit unless I purchase 2 3 kva buck boosters and buck it down to 230. Why? Are 10 volts going to make such a difference in the ware and tear on the components? I am told that these boosters are going to cost me over $300 each. What are your thoughts? |

| Super Star Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 545 | I just can't resisit....The answer is because it's a .....SPORTERADO!!!.And if your brand new shiny peice of eye candy can't take an extra 10 volts ,well you have a problem.Because voltage fluctuates sometimes. And for that kind of money your bed is supposed to be able to take an *** kicking. The transformer should be part of the deal so that salons can get it right.Nobody has 230 volts .It is usually 240 or 208. |

I know I won't get the life out of my lamps as I would with a Magic ( a very dull looking piece, I might add ), But my piece of eye candy tans. It will tan everybit as good as the Magic and on top of that, I've got the "WOW" factor setting in front of my front window. "Beam me up Scotty". |

I can't stand when manufacturer's don't include the transformers. Like selling a car without differential gears in the rear axle. | |

| All Star | "i believe several HP companies won't warrentee a unit if you go over 230 V." The Magic 636 IS warranteed at 240V. (and the transformer is included in the base price) The Saturn is also warranteed at 240V - just a side note ![]() |

There is plenty of B thru mug 6 even if the glass on the lamps has lost a bit to tan everyone. If the Magic is a bit dull (and only to salon owners, it looks exactly the same to customers no matter which unit you have)...then the Sportareado looks Circus Clown like. Who the hell puts orange on a tanning bed. (oh , Future). Orange is an ugly color best saved for one day a year in October or for spray booths. |
