Default Voltage

I remember reading something a while ago about voltage and high pressure beds. My Platinum and King have 2 different settings in the external transformer. It adjust the voltage up to 360V. I remember someone saying the higher voltage would affect the total b output? Is that right or was it the voices in my head again???

It is 380V.

The tap you use depends on the incoming voltage as the transformer produces a certain ratio of increase and if the input is higher, so will the output be.

The taps should be set based on your incoming voltage to yield 380 volts on the output of the transformer.

If the voltage is too high, all you will do is go through a bucket of fuses and generate more heat for the customer. Shorter lamp life too.

I know when you put a screwdriver on the 380 tap, but still have your forefinger extended and touching the metal, not the handle, that you will feel lucky about 10 seconds later if you are still breathing.

Best to try this with tennis shoes on, and don't touch other metal with your free hand.

According to the wizzard - D. Smith - overdriving any HP lamps actually reduces amount of UVB while increasing UVA some. Something about salts and peppers going haywire inside the bulbs as I recall.

So that explains my new hair style and my punjabi skin tone...

Is this true? I respect the wizzard but I missed his post on this topic.

Don't know about they hay or seeds in the lamps...but uv-b content drops as heat goes up.....you will get HIGHER uv-b output at 3 mins and drop , and drop and drop as the lamp heats up. ie. The first half of a mattress session has more b than the second half if time is equal PLUS warm up time for lamps.

HOWEVER...the Saturn HP stand up running at 250 volts will give you more uv-b than the unit running at 230.....in the second minute, and in the 10th......so old Geezer er....Wizard....er ..grizzled Donsense may be basing his hypothosis on just the brand he WORKS FOR and not all hp beds.
Hmmmmm?
