My King supposedly comes with the upgraded clear glass. Is there another clear glass other than the upgraded one that is the same thickness as the blue one? Cuz the original clear glass was half the thickness from what i was told.

Listen, it took me 2 years to change the damn blue glass.....don't tell me there is a replacement for the clear one now. Cuz i'll just sell the damn bed

There is only one clear glass, about three years ago all the new Magics started coming in with it. When the King came out it already had the new clear glass.

Drew, very good on the clear glass analogy. Most people don't know that it's the clear glass that controls the B. Two thumbs up!

I know the natzi forum FDA police is around here somewhere. So i will beat you to to the next question. Is the new glass also revised with FDA? Yes... why not, easy addemdum to do.....

Thanks Steve......do you think i should leave the stripped glass for the face? I've been told that the single sheet of Mug 6 on the face is fine. Now Drew got me all worried and paranoid with replacing it.

Drew you're scaring me you bastard........never thought changing glass would be so difficult dammit.

now what?

Magic's and Kings have EXCELLENT cooling so long as your make up air is sufficient. It pulls the air in from both ends....so the end lamps get the coolest air...this is where the facial is....on my Chronos..it pulls air ONLY from the foot..so bythe time it gets to the face, the air is roasting hot....

So slat on Chronos is best and wont break...Magics and kings can go with the single sheet mug 6....but there is too much b for my face. I'm skin type 2.5 but a 1.5 on the face at best.....so it is just my personal preference.......that picture of me was my darkest and that was in the Caribean.

The advantage of having the strips at the face is also the lower b,as previously stated. When selling hp as being gentler it is nice to be able to tell a client the bed is "balanced" to deal with a more sensitive area such as the face.So I would stay with the strips for the face.

Personally, I liked the slat glass better, felt like a nice smooth ride after tanning in it. Very well balanced output.

Hate to put a twist in it. But in my King we switched to MUG 6 the very first day, this was April of 2005. Not one complaint over the face.
You can easily test it out. The slate pieces are a bit of a hassle to take out. So if you want to try Mug 6 over the face. Take the whole facial cartridge, and move it to the last lamp on the bottom column by the feet.
On the Magic there is 3 x 2000 watt facials, compared to 1 x 2000 watt for the King. So I probably wouldn't do this in the Magic for sure.

Slats are better on the face but if they break (and they do) and the bed keeps running - how is that on the face? I would go single sheet for safety.

There are sensors if the glass breaks to shut the bed off.

I received the Mug 6....it was here before i even opened. Delivered to the gym next door. Only problem is i have ppl booked in it already....i've been open for an hour and have tanned 3 ppl so far in the King and have appointments too. So it looks like i'll be putting in the glass after work tonight.

I would have loved to shut it down and do it now....but then i would be losing sales. Oh well....this way i can be the ginny pig in it tonight and see the results by tomorrow.

Din if the clear glass is positioned closest to client - it can break and the bed will NOT shut off. The sensors are on the inside glass holder only...

what are you doing with loose live wires at 380V....you are testing the breakage point of the clear glass? What kind of experiments are you running out there uv2021? Is that what you do during off season? LOL.... That sounds a little dangerous.

Did blue pieces break while moving beds or while bed was running?

Not while moving. I figured out (with uv2021's help) it was and exhaust/dampner problem. I added the butterfly spring closing type and never broke a glass again. I guess the humidity was the issue.

Okay,

I finished installing the Mug6 glass and i went for a tan and just got out. OMG....i'm like Punjabi right now. I'm darker than my punjabi partner w8inline and I'm a skin type 2.

We'll see tomorrow how dark i get and if there is any redness. I did a full session of 12min and i jacked the lamps up as well.

Wow that was 1000x more comfortable. NO hotspots....still a hot bed but amazingly reduces hotspots and infrared heat.

I could have stayed in there for an hour.

okay...it's after midnite...time to go home. We'll see the difference in the morning.

Amazing how stubborn some can be not investing an additional 10% into a premium-class bed to get the most comfortable performance out of a tanning bed, 'eh?

I remember dancing around with a few others sitting on the fence about installing this option on the Magic/King.

congrats on finally making the move.
