| Hall of Famer | Well the Mug 6 is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I keep looking at this thing thinking it looks dead when its not in use. I have it right next to my front counter with double doors, so its a show piece when its not in use. Which is much too often right now, but hopefully that will change. I thought about putting colored spot lights angled down on it, but I'm not a fan of that. I'd like to have the machine glow, especially the acrylic. I have some ideas for ways to light it, but the heat worries me a bit down there. For a top down glow, i'm considering putting some lights right next to the air vents on the canopy. I think someone on this forum described the magic as ugly compared to some others, I think it has potential. I understand that the new magics have a laser cut Magic in the center that lights up. This is a step forward, but doesn't do much IMO. Dressing the room up isn't much of an option, the double doors take away pretty much all spare area that we had. |

| Hall of Famer | Well you read my mind.... I have some experience with LED lighting. I redid all the lighting in a new model pontiac firebird. You just need to know the number of LEDs and then determine the resistance needed. A cheap 12volt transformer can do the job nicely. LED lights have gotten soo bright, that if you bounce the light off some sort of reflector you will get the smooth look you want. I also experimented with luminescent tape. I think I spelled that close to correct. Limos use this often. It is very thin and extremely flexible. Only problem is that it isn't very bright. If your room is darker then it would work fine. This still needs a 12 volt system normally as its made for cars. Once I get done with the MUG replacement, I'll shop around. |

| Hall of Famer | Din, I think this is the answer.. http://www.lighttape.com/gallery_residential.asp thats the link to some of the applications. it can be ordered in almost any size. Cost I'm not soo sure about yet. I'm going to try and get some ideas of where I'd want it and how much I'd need. I just want to contact them to see if heat would be a problem. | Hall of Famer | No, I'm going to try and get a price this week. I would imagine the cost is mostly in the transformer. Get something strong enough to handle more, I'm thinking about using it in more places around the salon. I'm still concerned about heat, but I think it can handle it. |

I saw the video, a car does a burnout on the damn thing for 15 seconds and you see the smoke and rubber. but it still works. I don't think 90-100degrees would bother it. Especially when it's used for outdoors and the sun is beating down on it in California and Vegas desert. A tanning bed will do nothing to this thing. They shoot through the friggin thing with a gun and the rest works. I think this is THE thing to get for lighting up the beds. Good find. I emailed them for tanning bed applications and heat and UV issues. Waiting to hear back from them maybe tomorrow since it's sunday today. __________________ ![]() www.ChronosMarketing.com ____________________________________________ The problem nowadays is stupidity. | Hall of Famer | I was going to use 2 strips on the bottom, and 2 on the top. I'm going to have the room darker than what it is now. I just want a mild glow, I dont' want to light up the whole place. I may actually put a motion light switch in the room for the overheard lighting. I have to call them back shortly, i'll get their suggestion as to how much I need. |

Does that include the power supplies (how many), connectors (for how many applications) and all that's needed to power this thing up on 110v? Or is it just for the lighting stip of 20 feet x 1/2 inch? Will it hold up on our application usage and conditions? __________________ ![]() www.ChronosMarketing.com ____________________________________________ The problem nowadays is stupidity. | Hall of Famer | That includes everything. I have 4 connections. If you want me to be the tester before you order, just hold on for about a week or so. I ordered. I took the dive, keep your fingers crossed.. They say it will hold up to the heat. I'm a little skeptical If it doesn't I actually just came up with another idea. You could put a few high powered LEDs at the ends of the columns, we already know they can handle the heat since we have the warning LED there. could actually run it off the units power too. DAMN, that would have been a lot cheaper |

| Hall of Famer | The light tape came in today. If your room is bright you will not get any glow from it, turn the lights off and its quite bright. Worth the money, nope, LEDS are cheap and much brighter. I'll make this work for what I want, I'm not sure how soon I'll do it, today's my birthday and its the last thing i want to do, especially now that the unit is running good. |
