Initial 7.0 readings brings the unit to 4 meds in 15 minutes the unit is a 20 minute max. I am sure as the lamps settle in they will tame down a bit. |

They should hang there for a while too at that reading, the unit does not run hot at all if vented and will give better overall lamp life too then the original. |

The Supras way outperform the hereaus lamps and the reason that UWE started with the smaller plus lamp way back in the day was that the larger lamps were getting "overcooled"...which isn't a problem with Supra lamps as they run a bit hotter than heraeus and overcooling doesn't seem to be a problem. I know on my regular sunboard I only get 2 med's in 20 mins and just about 35 mills at the body. But for a drew quotient of 700 (35 x 20)..it is still better than most vhr's for total A. The back isn't great....but I relamp the back every 100 hours or so now that 400 watt clip ins are cheap. |

You have never used the plus lamp in your Sunboard BECAUSE it wasn't designed with it. There have been 3 versions of the Sunboard. Sunboard Sunboard plus Sunboard XTT The original Sunboard (which you have) had all circular/bowl reflectors with 1000 watt plug ins. (The only type AUVL/Supra sells). The Sunboard PLUS changed some of the lamps and some of the reflectors. Three of the four reflectors on each arm (starting from head area) were changed to an older style basic square reflector (like UB). The rest of the reflectors remained circular/bowl. The first 2 lamps in arms, and the first 3 in canopy (from head)were switched to 1000 watt PLUS (thinner style) to help ADJUST A FOCUS ISSUE. You can buy a PAR90 lamp for you salon ceiling lighting in a NSP (narrow spot 9 degrees, or 12 degrees (wider) or FLOOD 35 degrees etc.) What is the difference? The area of light that hits the floor. This is the same issue with the PLUS lamp. It changed the diameter of the lamps throw. Between the changed square reflector and the different degree of coverage from the thinner PLUS lamp, the coverage became MORE even. The Sunboard XTT (latest version) changed back to all regular 1000 watt plug ins like the original Sunboard. This model uses single mirror glass filters. (Previous 2 models used 1 blue, and 1 clear for each lamp). Side arms still have 3 old style square reflectors, and the circular/bowl facial reflector has 16 facets instead of 12 like all others. In Nashville 06 I spoke with uwe engineers, techs, and PC Bruce (all individually) and asked this same question 8 months before it appeared here. "Does the Sunboard Plus model still need the Plus lamps since the XTT doesn't use them?" All answered yes, for reasons mentioned above. For the record, the PLUS lamps are located in the OVER HEATED area not the over cooled area. The face lamp in canopy gets the most heat (yes it is closest to fan HOWEVER all the heat from the 4 lamps in front of it pass by. The fact that Gerry got a very high reading of 60 proves the focus is off. I believe his number, but the clients nose will be tanner then their shoulders. The PLUS would read lower, but the tanning coverage would be more uniform (as well as the reading). I bet the 60 was dead center, and fell off as he moved meter outward. |
