Default 2000 Puretan Astral HP?

Anyone know any thing about this bed and what it may be worth? A salon up here has a red one that they got when the salon was purchased and wants to sell it. He really doesn't know much about it either. Thanks for any help!

He just called back and said that it has 48 500w HP bulbs on the top and 21 160w regular bulbs on the bottom. It also has a mattress that some people prefer to use. Anyone know anything about this bed?

It does not have 48 x 500W HP lamps. That's for sure. If it has the 160w lamps that makes it a Combo unit and not a true HP bed.

If it's a combo unit, it probably would have like 10-15HP lamps....the Magic and other beds that have 6 columns ALL HP lamps don't even have 48 lamps....

According to this, it was the new introduction for Puretan - in 1998.

Doesn't sound HP still from the description. Maybe a pseudo-HP tube lamp or something? Maybe John or someone with lamps will be able to recall those lamps they list.

So a guy "asking" $5k even if he doesn't know how many bulbs or much about the bed may be offering a sweet deal? He needs cash to tile and remodel his store as it was originally bid at $16k and he has a guy who will do it for $9k.
Thanks for all the hellp by the way! I am very glad I found you guys and this board!

NO...cuz Sunsport 2021 and Ultrabronz beds that are true HP beds are being sold for $3500-$5,000 on here.

I wouldn't buy a bed i didn't know anything about, nor would i buy it from someone that had no clue what they had.

Go there, see it and make an offer of $2500 or something if you think it's worth it. If he doesn't know what he has, maybe he'll sell it .

Thats what I am thinking. He took over the salon for a steal from a guy who went under. He says he has brand new HP bulbs in the box that he got with the deal. I'm going to start at $2k.

It does have 48 HP lamps in the top.

Stupid azz 2 lamps per cassette, hotter than hell. The only HP lamp that will run properly in it is the Philips 400W/30S, it has a larger diameter so it cools better giving a 1/2 decent life. Output isn't all that great. You try any other 400 or 500W lamp in there & it will be shot in 200 hrs.

I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to put 2 or 3 400W facials in the same cassette instead of using 1 1000W lamp. Uwe, MegaSun & puretan all do it.

Approximate value of this bed is the current price of "dirty ferrous metal", 1-4 cents per lb delivered to your local scrap yard. 1500 lbs=$15-$60 max
