Or the bare bulbs had less UVB to start with. __________________ ![]() ......................Flashback 2001........................ "One of the 'ORIGINAL' TanToday Gang" |

And I still believe him. Take your UVB meters and check transmission through various expensive vs Lowes chunks and tell me what you get. Will the dimestore stuff crack, shatter, solarize, or blow up before the real McCoy? Beats me. But I betcha there are plenty of old QDM's around with the el-cheapo glass... tempered of course! It ALL blocks some IR... depending on thickness as to how much. __________________ ![]() ......................Flashback 2001........................ "One of the 'ORIGINAL' TanToday Gang" |

On the other hand... clear glass is clear glass. It's wavelength cutoff pretty much just depends on thickness. The Schott varieties, however, can "tune" the cuttoff based on the number (like 316, etc). The number is the half-power-point .... ie: 50% of 316nm transmits. Less below 316 and more above 316nm. Curves for WG glass on Schott site shows this. __________________ ![]() ......................Flashback 2001........................ "One of the 'ORIGINAL' TanToday Gang" |

| All Star Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: the dirty dirty Posts: 244 | I'm looking at getting a HP for this season. A Sportarredo rep told me their glass is better that MUG6 (of course.. he's a salesman). If so, what gives, and what is the difference between MUG6 and Sportarredo's glass? |

The glass they used is hand made & is all crazy, cracky looking. (Can't tell if it is broken until the bed is on) They are also shingled in the cassette, they have about 4-5 pcs per facial. Also there is no safety feature to this set up, which sucks since you can burn someones face off pretty quick. __________________ |

Most HP units will have a safety switch built into the cassette or into the glass itself. This is very important to have & could save you from a lawsuit. __________________ |
