It has a nice "wow" factor. I like the idea of "plug n play" instead of plug it in and work on it to get it just right...that you almost need Brian to set it up... Thats one of the nice things here on these posts...it can make or break a guy!! ![]() |

| All Star | As far as electrical requirements, make sure you have the right gauge wire going to the unit. I haven't set one up in a couple years, but I think it needs 4 or 6 gauge wire. Just consult with your electrician on that one. Al's right; the original glass has impressioned lines in the glass. Its more blue than purple. A dead giveaway would be that the original glass has a white logo on each corner that says "Euroelektrica". Since its a 2003 unit, i doubt you have the body blower by the feet. You should definitely call Tan Tech on that one and order one. They're pretty salty, but they make all the difference in the world when you're tanning in it. Or if you have room, you can save some money and put a table with a fan down by your feet. I ran a 2003 unit in a salon for almost a year (with original glass) - and it was way too hot. I could only get my tanning junkies to go into it. Once we upgraded to MUG6 glass, everyone could use it. Definitely do the upgrade. |

I guess you dont have to have the best product in this business you just have to have the best hype... |

| Super Star Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 868 | I have 2 Magics and I have never had to make adjustments on them to make them work right. The only adjustments I have made is to the lamps but the Magic is made to do that. You can keep the Magic at 130 for 1000 hours or more. Island, you forgot to tell them that you get 25% less sessions on the same number of hours on the lamps. 12 minutes per session for the Magic vs. 15 minutes per session for the Mastersun. You also forgot to tell them that the Mastersun has to have the lamps changed out every 500-700 hours. Parrothead said his were shot at 400 hours. The Magic every 1000 hours or more. So you can see that it does not take long to recoup the extra money spent on the M-ug 6 glass. The question I would like to ask is, can the Mastersun make me $100,000 between lamp changes? The Magic can and has done it for me. Lava, if your running 208 volts, you will need a 125 amp 3 phase breaker. If you have 240 volts, you will need a 100 amp breaker. Put the tranformer in another room other than in the room with the Magic. There will be less heat and noise if you do. You also need extra cooling going into the room and you also need to have it hooked into the bed. I have 3 tons of ac for each of my Magics. If I can be of any help PM me. |

Are all the lamps lasting 1000hrs or are you having to change out a lamp here and there because there burning out especialy after you up the voltage??? I could prob get almost 1000hrs out of my SunSport but between 800 and 1000 I would have a few lamps burn out and thats with out overdriving them in that 800-1000hr time frame.. |

| Super Star Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 868 | Certan, I have the M-ug 6 glass in mine and I don't have hot spots in mine. The advantage of the Magic is the each lamp can be adjusted individually. The 2003 Magics were one of the first ones out there, so sure there have been improvements to them over the years. Are you trying to tell me that the beds you sell have not made any improvements to them in the last 5 years? I know that Mike had some problems with the used Magic he bought, but for the most part it is not the people that own the Magics that have the negitive things so say about them, it is the other bed salesmen trying to compete against the Magic. |

I actually think the magic is a good bed I just dont think its the best High Pressure bed on the market. As far as the beds I sell NO there have been no upgrades or changes to them other than the looks.

| Super Star Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 868 | Certan, I wouldn't expect you to think it was the best. No salesman thinks what the other guy is selling is the best. I can see you telling someone you are trying to sell a bed to, " oh we have the second or third best bed on the market." |

| Veteran Join Date: May 2005 Location: Texas Posts: 481 | Ive been in this business a long time so now when I decide on whats the best bed for me and my salon its not just based on looks or meter readings. Heres why I like the Tanses beds so much better. -- 500 watt lamps meter at 110 with 600hrs on them thats better than my SunSport and Chronos and they use 1000 & 1500W lamps -- With proper cooling you will get 800-1,000 hrs off your lamps -- 10 min. session means more sess. per day which means more $$ -- Install the bed in about 2 hours -- Clean and relamp in 30 minutes -- No cobalts to break -- Single metalic filter (No cobalts) -- Parabolic Reflectors -- 70 amp single phase mattress, 100 amp single phase 360 -- 500W lamp + Reflectors and Single Filters means higher output and less heat -- No computer or circuit boards (simple to install and work on) -- All powder coated steel, Aluminum and Stainless Steel -- No lift motors to replace, No circuit boards to replace, No touch pads to replace -- Simple design and incredible results these are the things I look for in a bed |

Your right you would never want to take advice from someone thats been in the business for 16+ years.. What the hell do they know!! Yes I may be a little bias but I dont put down any beds unless there total junk. As I said before I think the Magic is a good bed, I also think Tan America makes a good bed but I wouldnt recommend the Matrix because of that High UVB rate but all of there other beds are great. Dr, Kern also makes a good bed. If I have used it in my salon and I felt it was junk im not gonna reccomend it bottom line.
