Default 818 shutting down

After about 16 min the bed trips the wall breaker (not everytime, just most of the time).

I've checked for shorts and nothing is visible. The voltage from the transformer is fine.

Any ideas what to check next? I'll call Patrik later, but I'd like to get your thoughts this am.

this would shut the bed off but not trip the breaker

The capacitors when they go bad, they start pulling more and more amps then the bed requires, causing the breaker to trip.

OOPS! I missed the part about tripping the breaker.

Your probably right!!

I just had to replace all the capacitors in my Sunsport 2021 for that same reason.

No joke. I'm about to drive to Texas.

Do I need to replace all the capacitors or is there a way to check for a bad one?

I have a nice ampprobe with the clip thingy. Could anyone tell me exactly how to check those things?

Ok, I think if I check each capacitor as the bed is running I should be able to tell which capacitor or capacitors is bad because it would be a significantly different reading.
Does that sound right?

Thanks Brian for your old post I found on this.

Check for burned wires in your canopy or in your transformer...

I did check for burned wires. Nothing looks wrong and the wires are still flexible and in good shape. The transformer is not showing anything wrong either. Thanks though.

Your breaker is just weak I bet. Those "flip" breakers only last so long then they get weak and start to trip every so often.

Change it to a "slow blow, shotgun style" breaker with the big arm on it. Whatever style that is called.

The breaker is only 7 months old. I'll try that also.

I amp probed and 2 of the capcitors are reading about 25% higher than the others.

I'll replace those as well.

What does it read at the breaker? If it is higher then the breaker rating then you have bad caps, if it is lower then the breaker rating then the breaker is bad.

You already have the ideal tool for the job.

brians right...amp clamp the wires at the disconect/breaker. see if you are pulling more than 80.

If you are over 85 you have bad capacitors.

If you are 80 and amps arent the problem..check your breaker conections to the BOX and see they aren't burnt. Bad lamp wires would trip breakers in the bed so that isn't it.

Also, make sure that the wires in the breaker are tight. Loose wires will make heat at the breaker and trip the thermal trigger in the breaker as it thinks it's an overload. Crank 'em down.

you can check lose wires by seeing if the breaker is melting.

I replaced the 80 amp breaker with a 100 amp breaker and have not had an issue yet. It was reading about mid 80's when I did the amp check.
