Default Check cooling fans on 2M Booth

What is the best way to check to ensure the cooling fans in my booth are working correctly? Lately, it has been shutting off after 3, 9 minute sessions in a row. It always seems to shut off during the third session at about 7 minutes. I'm beginning to think one or more of the fans are not working properly.

Equipment 2004, 2M Hearland booth 9 Minutes.

You can feeling the breaker is hot, when it shuts off.

Any advice would be great.

You should be able to look and see if all of your fans are running. If your beaker is getting hot, you could just have a bad breaker...happens from time to time. Once they get too hot, they will trip.... Very easy fix just run to Lowes or home depot and buy a replacement breaker.

When I close today I will check to see if all the fans are working.

I will also get new breakers.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,
Dawn

Check the current draw with an amprobe. If the breaker is getting hot, it is not properly rated. A loose wire at the breaker will cause overheating and too small a wire will too.

Make sure that the booth is not drawing more current then it is rated for. If the current is within manufacturer spec and within breaker rating then the breaker is bad.

Brian,

Happy to report, this morning the breaker was changed and everything seems to be running smoothly. The breaker is not hot at all. Before if three customers tanned in row the breaker would get hot. Today the breaker is not even warm. Cold as Ice.

Thank you to everyone for your help.

Thanks,
Dawn

While on the subject of the 2M, what is the recommended lamp for this booth?

I bought it with the Heartland labeled SolGlass lamps and, IMHO, those are not strong enough for the 9 minute session time.

Jim

A regular VHR lamp may be compatible with SOL Glass but it is still not a 9 minute lamp, but may satisfy more clients.

Have you talked to Heartland about how your are unhappy with the performance of the booth? What have they said?
What lamp came in the booth before SOL Glass came out?

The 2M was delivered with the SolGlass lamps. I was told that they would deliver better results than VHOR lamps that were also available.

I decided to go with the new SolGlass lamps over the VHOR lamps based on the best available information at the time. At the time, SolGlass was being touted as the greatest technology advancement in indoor tanning since the invention of electricity. (sarcasm alert) I have to accept responsibility for my decision.

I will talk with Heartland in Nashville. I told them soon after delivery that 9K90 VHR lamps were favored by my clients (in 12 and 15 min beds) over the results of the SolGlass lamps in the 9 minute booth. That may be expected.

My focus now is on what lamp to use going forward. I'm not trying to blame Heartland for my decision to use the SolGlass lamps. I am expressing my opinion here to help others make decisions for themselves on lamp selection. I have no complaint with the 2M itself. I want to change lamps to improve the tanning results and customer satisfaction with the 2M.

If I can get a break on replacement lamps for the 2M from Heartland, so much the better and I would be very grateful for their support.

Jim, I'm sure that the SolGlass lamps are still putting out a respectable amount of UVA? If so just take 1/2 out & replace them with a higher UVB lamp such as the Magic Sun 20/180R or LSI Signature Series Plus 2M. This will give that added kick of UVB for the immediate results your customers are looking for.

The Sol Glass works best at about 12 minutes.
The 9k90 I like for 12-15 minutes
Sig Hp 10-12
Sig Plus 8-10

My manual for the 2004 2M states Cosmolux VHR 200 as the replacement lamps.

Keep in mind it is a 2004 Model.

See, Jim's booth is probably still the best tanner in the area...just his clients are not SolGlass customers...as in he probably deals with a more Redneckian audiance and (like the 9K90 or any low uvb HP) the white folk's skin just reflects the stuff.

I used an ICON filled with SolGlass...oh my god it's like they used my skin to figure out the tanning specs on these things. Best color ever.

Imagine if you had a 30K HP bed and your customers with bum skin are bitching about the lack of color and the only response you can give is SORRY YOUR SKIN SUCKS SO BAD....

Can't say that when every dollar counts.

John's idea with replacing everyother lamp maybe what the people are looking for. I DARE ya to replace everyother lamp with a HITAN VHR...oh crap they don't come in long lamp....dammit.
