| Ceiling colors preferences? white or black ceiling tiles? White seems to have a more classic look, brighter, uplifting. Black can look good but seems to be more like a dungeon unless alot of light is used. Anyone like the open ceiling look ? I think the open look gives a nice spacious feeling to the salon. Does it really create a extra Hvac Expense? |

| Moderator | My a/c bill went down 200. a month putting in a drop to 10 feet...and exhausting all the units with a/c into that space...IMO the white tiles look clean. Good luck...show us all a pic when your done...love to see it...Soo __________________ What Other Profession Does The Sun Shine Everyday?? Enjoy It !! |

Cuts down on cost of cooling the salon when all beds are running. We went with a brown colored ceiling, I think white is too bright. Black gives the dungeon look like you said, brown was a nice choice. |

| Moderator | Brown or tan prolly would look great...As I know I have overspray thruout the salon from my airless...just think whats in our lungs...hope they are right with nothing bad in the sunless solution....sneeks thru our a/c ducts and anything else...we even have good seals to that room...Oh well..gotta go somehow...might as well go from what I love most...Soo __________________ What Other Profession Does The Sun Shine Everyday?? They start at about the 15 foot mark so heat can still rise up and then the suctions take care of the rest. Works for us! __________________ Alan"America is too great for small dreams" - Ronald Reagan |

You will see the open ceilings which give the salon a bigger feel for my 2200 square feet. Now I have 13 beds which include large sunscape 755 and a sportarredo high pressure. My electric bill with 14 tons was $900.00 july and august and $600.00 in the winter. Opening second salon in October and will use open ceiling again. |

| All Star | Splashtan your salon is beautiful. I went with a 14ft ceiling black tiles with the duct work below the tile. Gives the look and feel of an open ceiling. Just couldn't do a real open ceiling because of the way the building was built. A higher ceiling gives the salon a more open feel and a better look in my opinion. ![]() |

Air circulates wonderfully plus we have 3 ceiling fans going down the hallway. We painted our wall color up to about 12 feet, taped it off, and had pros come in and spray it black to camoflauge all the duct work. We receive a lot of compliments on how open and luxurious it feels. The ceiling tiles remind me of the offices that I SO DON'T miss working in! |

| All Star | Thanks SandiGirl. As for the "office" look of tile ceilings I do believe that is true if you go with a drop ceiling and white especially. And as for the noise we have not had a problem. I think the size of the salon would be a factor in that and how your sound system is set up. Three of our beds have the speakers built in and then the other rooms we have wireless speakers that the customer can control the volume but we have them all set to the same station. Seems to have worked out well and have had no complaints. I know another salon that did the true open ceiling but put 9 or 10ft. Eurowalls instead of the standard 8ft and loves it. |

Also, the same as for which is cheaper on AC. I am expanding and I am not sure what to do with the new space. We have open ceiling now, and it seems to have worked well. Don't know what to do with new space. |

| Hall of Famer | We had tiles in the begining and after the reno @ location 1 we went with open ceiling. A bit of a difference. Tiles were @ the 8-9ft mark, with open ceiling we have 22ft. The whole point is to remove the hot air from the rooms and replace it with cold. For that reason I believe ceilings work better. IMO ideal would be room with ceiling (tile or drywal) thermostat in the room with a dedicated ac unit for that room. |
