I need to get salon software but unsure which is best. Can I get some honest opinions from some salon owners please.

I have been using sun touch for about 1 year and I have not had any problems. This softwear does it all.

SunTouch has been in our salon since 2001 and has performed amazingly!

Heard good things about Helios as well. All have their strong points and the best thing to do is try out a demo on each to see what "fits" your needs.

Is there monthly fees to Suntouch or one flat rate?

I've been using SunEase for 15 years. Upgrades are very resonable and the program is very easy to use, tracks everthing, reports are excellent and there are no monthly fees for support because you rarely need support.

SunTouch is a purchased product. They offer a monthly fee for tech support calling but once you buy the software its yours forever.

In Helios' defense I think you can stop payments on their monthly debits once the software is paid for.

Just for the purpose of clarification.

You do not purchase any software in the tanning industry. Most will sell you a non-exclusive right to use for a fee and will also have either a monthly/annual support agreement or offer support on a call basis.

I stand to be corrected but I understand that SunTouch also charges a fee for program upgrades.

Helios does not have an upfront license fee. They provide their software free from this upfront license fee and offer a monthly support agreement that provides ongoing program upgrades at no additional cost. While the Monthly Software Maintenenance agreement is in force the user is also entitled to free Technical Support.
