| All Star | I got a bunch of samples too but haven't tried it myself. I have given it out free to customer that buy a package but don't want to buy lotion. Figure something is better than nothing and once they use lotion and see/feel the difference they will buy. No complaints from whom I have given it too. But, personally just by the packaging it looks cheap and I wouldn't carry it. |

Why don't we just take the safety labels off everything and see what happens? |

If they're too cheap to buy lotion now, then a free pkt isn't going to change they're mind ! At least sell them for a buck or two. I was sent a lot at least a dozen. But I just didn't want to sell crap. Even if for a buck. I guess I could sell it for a buck and say " See the difference between $h!t lotion and the good stuff. Now here try this Spellbound, it's wonderful" |

| All Star | I believe that when a customer says I never used lotion and don't really want to spend money on a sample because they don't think they need it then you give them a free sample they appreciate it and it will get them to at least try lotion and see and feel the difference. Now if it's some high school kid that I know is just looking for something free then no I am not going to offer them a free sample. It's a case by case basis as to how the conversation goes when they are purchasing a tanning package (not just a single session). I do it as a one time thing and I can say almost everyone I have given a sample to comes back and then buys either other samples to try until they find the one they fall in love with or just buy a bottle of what we recommend. So in the end I am giving away lotion packets that I got for free but turning the customer that I gave it to into a person that is now going to buy lotion and continue to do so which is gaining me sales. So what am I doing wrong? |

| All Star | Oh and as for giving samples to "good" customers I do that sometimes too. If we are thinking about bringing in a certain lotion I will give a sample to a good customer that I know will give me their honest feedback and will appreicate that I thought about them and trusted them to try it out. I hate tingle so any tingle I will give to customers that use tingle to get their feedback and then know if they will buy it if I do decide to bring it in. |

I simply place one drop on the top of a customers hand and then show them how it covers the entire top of hand when rubbed in. This stuff spreads very well, smells good, and gives tanning results. Using with a high pressure bed is great because it absorbs in the skin before it dries out like some lower quality lotions. |

Don't give something to a customer, even for free, that you haven't tried yourself - what if it is horrible?? Don't give customers samples to try of products that you think look cheap and you wouldn't carry - why bother if they won't be able to buy it later if they like it? If you get free samples, give them to your staff to try to see if THEY like them and would be excited to sell them! If not, that may just reaffirm for them that what you carry now is REALLY the best! Or TRY them yourself, to see if it is any good. A great lotion in so-so packaging can still sell, and a crappy lotion in great packaging will hurt you more than it helps! We salon owners complain that the lotion companies won't let us "try" stuff before we buy, and then they DO send it to us and we decide to sell it or give it away without even opening it ourselves! ![]() | |

| Hall of Famer | Brian is right, during June, i gave out a packet of ray of light to every person that bought a package. Now this did help me sell ray of light, i sold 15 bottles, but the people that don't want to spend money won't. Some people got turned onto a lotion, but it was a select few, once they heard the price that was it for others. |
