Default CTS - Please do not buy from them

My salon is about 3 miles from CTS/Nailco. I have hair people who come in here who constantly get their tanning lotions from CTS/Nailco for discount. I refuse to buy from them and urge you to do the same. Buy from someone who won't shoot this industry in the foot. Please.

Thanks, Kathe

You should know by now that this industry is nothing more then backstabbers and crooks. If you looking for someone that doesnt do that good luck my friend.

Its a cut throat industry right now just buy from who you think is the lesser or the 2 and focus on your business.

Just want to make sure all are aware that Performance Brands no longer supplies to CTS due to their wanting to put all lotions other than ETS in their beauty supply.

Performance Brands remains dedicated to salons and does not endorse sales to beauty.

CTS has been my primary distributor for the last couple years. I have not seen a reason to switch to another. (Meet Comp is not a good reason. Selling to Beauty is not a good reason.)

If you want to carry AG/SB/CT/DS, call CTS.

If you don't want to carry AG/SB/CT/DS, they may not be your best choice.

I have never been a fan of ETS. I'm not on their Christmas Card list and they don't invite me to their parties. Fact is, I was below their radar.

However, ETS bought my 2 top selling lotion brands. I have large sales and profit numbers to hit and today I don't see a viable replacement player on the horizon.
DS was my dominant brand last year. I don't like that they sold out but I understand. It's business. (I also cherry picked AG and CT.)

Cacy @ CTS takes good care of me and I expect more of the same going forward. cwade@ctsorder.com

I understand why CTS went with ETS. If you don't understand, talk to the dog. It's a "ruff" business.

There may be a couple of non-ETS family brands that grow in this new competitive market. Just understand that any lotion brand could be acquired by ETS at any time.

Don't hate the Player; hate the Game.

Jim I think you would think differently about CTS if your salon was down the road from them and they constantly sold your clients lotions at discount, leaving you high and dry. This thread wasn't about the types of lotion they carry, it's about selling to everyone and anyone who walks in their place.

Thanks for the support. Kathe

I kinda agree with Jim on this one. Give them an incentive to buy from you. It doesn't matter which brands you sell, just give them a reason to spend their money with you vs. elsewhere.

Where do you buy your shampoo? Walmart or your beauty salon? Or do you buy it wholesale? (You may not comprehend my point.)

You don't have a right to your clients. You must earn their business everyday. It is called competition. Compete.

Nailco is not selling lotion to your clients. They are selling their clients. You are tanning their clients. If you can't sell lotion to someone that is in your salon 2-3 times a week, that is not the fault of Nailco.

Get back to work.

I buy my shampoo from Arbonne, I don't shop at Nailco/CTS/whatever. And they won't let me, I'm a tanning salon owner and am not allowed to buy beauty products from them. That is my beef with them. They won't let me by beauty products but they'll let they beauty people buy tanning products.

You are entitled to your opinion. Kathe

OK, I'll just sell it to them for my cost and make nothing so I can compete. No thanks.

No one is saying that at all Kathe. The incentive can be a session or two, an upgrade to try another unit, it can be that if they buy products from you they can store it at the salon. It doesn't have to cost you any money...

Jesus, just be creative instead of starting a smear campaign against a company.

Or simply sell products that your clients cant purchase down the road...like Greg said in another thread, and as I have heard throughout my 18 years experience in this industry...

"What will be your best selling product line in '08? Whatever you want it to be!!"

Hopefully it will be a line that doesn't line the pockets of you-know-who...

I can see Kathes point. They will sell to hair dressers that have no tanning equipment in the place of business, but a tanning salon can't buy hair care products. Seems like a double standard.

Either they don't sell tanning products to people that have no tanning equipment, or sell to them at regular retail. NOT at wholesale.

I agree with this here. I don't see a problem with the headcutters buying tanning lotion wholesale as long as the tanning salon owner can buy beauty supply at wholesale.

To allow the whole product line from the distributor to be available to headcutters and to not allow the whole product line to be available to tanning salon owners is unfair.

You know i've never understood this either. I've tried to be happy a stylist from another salon at least has chosen to tan with us. Typically i'm happy when a cleint at least has a salon quality lotion whether its mine or someone else's. It's the client that won't buy one that drives me nuts! i also own a hair salon...so, i can also buy at a the local beauty supply companies...maybe i should put up a Hair products counter? At least my hair salon, does'nt sell tanning lotions!!

XXXXX, just be creative instead of starting a smear campaign against a company.
Jeff, I am not starting a smear campaign. I'm fed up. I've been dealing with this company for almost 14 years. I'm sick of it. I've tried all kinds of things and none of it works. I've even gone in there and talked to them at CTS/Nailco.

They need to get the message that tanning salon owners should be treated with the same respect that they give to hair dressers. I don't think that is too much to ask from a lotion distributor.

I don't think any hairdresser would like it if I said, no thanks, I buy my products at a discount from Nailco. They would throw a hissy fit with Nailco. Thing is, Nailco doesn't sell to people like me. So they are protected and I am not. I'm just asking for equal treatment.

Yes! Thank you. This is my point. We, as tanning salon owners, are treated like dirt, while beauty people are the creme de la creme. And they don't have to be owners, but just hairdressers.
