Telemarketing Nazi's

Started the calls this week from UNAVAILABLE #'s, here at the salon. Man, these guys are brutal. I should consider myself lucky though. It took them 16 months to get our info.
But they've called every day this week. When I tell them not to call, and put me on the Do Not Call list, they call back under a different name. Let's see, I've had Squeeze, Vegas Tans, Millennium Tan and someone else. All with this great deal of the best lotion ever, Buy 12 get 12 Free. Wow 24 bottles of one lotion in the off season, yehhhhh. For some god awful price. Want to confuse them, ask them for just 1 bottle. I've done that. And they ramble down a list of offers. 10 +10, 8+8, 4+4, 4+4 + 18 packettes. I guess they are unable to find a box small enough for one bottle, I dont know ! They actually put their boss on the phone yesterday and he told me he would be able to sell one of my customers, in my store, a bottle oh his goo over the phone. HAAAAA !

Here's my plan. When they call next time, Im gonna tell them Im actually my brother. And that I am just gathering up some paper work, cause Ray died in a car accident last night LOL

Just order it and refuse the COD shipment. It makes them stop for awhile.

Can't you be held liable for that, since you verbally agreed to the order and its terms, and be forced to pay ?

either what Jeff said or invest a few bucks in a nice whistle, you know like the refs use in the NFL and NBA.

Next time they call and announce who they are, just blow it as loud as you possibly can.

I always just say i'm an employee and that the boss isn't here and would they like to leave a message. They never do, if it was important, they would. The sales people never do though.

Not if your imaginary brother was on the phone agreeing to the shippment...

I just hang up...but sometimes i let them do their speel...then at the end, say "no thanks" and hang up. I hate solicitors!

Tell them to hold on for a second, you have a customer in front of you. Put the phone down but dont hang up. Then just go about your business and let them listen to everything you are doing. Say something like, "I do this every time a telemarketer calls" and giggle. See how long it takes them to hang up or call back. It is kinda fun to see how many times they take the punishment. One time, I put them on the speaker phone and muted it. This chick had nerve to be bitching about how long I had her on hold and was bad mouthing me. I picked up and said "is that how you talk about all of your clients? I want your manager on the phone!" Got the mgr and reamed him out and said how horrible it was to have heard such things coming out of her mouth about me and I could NEVER buy a product from a company that allows their employees to talk about clients like that. He was all flustered and she was too, it was pretty funny.

I've done that once. Put the phone down, but not hang up. I was in a meeting with my marketing rep. Would you believe the joker stayed on the phone for 33 minutes at least, waiting for me to come back ! lol

As always I just tell them Im an auto parts store, an adult store, a lotion supplier. Or I act like I just moved to america and I dont speak english to well. I make it seem like I think they are asking to buy lotion from me. Its great.

Also, I did the COD thing and refused the shipment from one of the companies. I forget the company name but it was for a shipment of like 24 bottles of some goo called Capt'n Jack. I refused the shipment. Two days later they called me and asked how I liked the lotion. I told them I sent it back and they said, "No you didnt, the computer says you got it." I just laughed and hung up. They still call once in a while asking how I liked that goo and if I want more. Hilarious.

I never had to pay for anything doing that. I told them I felt trapped and cornered and that I felt I needed to order that lotion because the rep was so pushy and then when It came I didnt accept it since I never wanted it in the first place. Yeah, 500 bucks for 24 bottles of goo in august. Yeah....Once you start talking like that they dont say anything else. Although its not a perfect deterrent.
