Offer this on anything you can order...you still make $ with the disty discount. Tell them to look online and pick what they want, then order from you. |

Last year, a friend salon came to visit me, we were talking sales. He was floored to hear I did a $30,000 month that month, he had never ever even seen a month that high. The next month I did a $40,000 month. He has been in business 4 years longer than me. Whats the difference? When he runs specials, he runs discounts on packages and lotions, When I run specials, I never discount, I think added value.

I do think that anyone who pays $100 for lotion is stupid or rich or both. I would love to see the facts or studies stating how the price of a tanning lotion affects your tan. I can't imagine that a $200 bottle works better than a $100 bottle works better than a $50 bottle works better than a $25 bottle.

Just kidding - that was for benzobaby lol. http://www.benzo.org.uk/ __________________ ![]() ......................Flashback 2001........................ "One of the 'ORIGINAL' TanToday Gang" |

Maybe you don't believe HP tans you any better than a level one bed too? Why would someone pay $30-$35 a tan compared to $5??? They must be stupid or rich or both eh? (same with a lotion)

| Hall of Famer Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: michigan Posts: 1,366 | Dba-a The more i think about your comments...the more in shock i am. Here we have a salon owner?, that does'nt believe in protecting/preserving ones skin from UV exposure. One that does'nt believe in preparing and repairing ones skin prior and during exposure to UV light. I think you do believe in HP beds...compared to entry level, that there is a difference right? Well, the way i look at lotions, is similar to HP...if you want faster, deeper darker results, that last.....use HP...i say the same thing about tanning lotions...and that "any salon quality tanning lotion is better than nothing, and some are better than others" The more you spend on a tanning the lotion, the better it is for your skin and the faster it tans...is a $100 lotion better than a $25? Hell yes!! But, anything mind you, is better than nothing...some are better than others!! It is all about money and what do you want while tanning? If you don't care about your skin, go cheap! If you don't think you need anything? Well, i think you are just plain stupid!! I wish i could tell me clients that...the few that don't think they need a lotion. Heres a good one for you...I hardly sell ANY entry level lotions...but sell mostly $50 and up. Why? because i believe in what you pay for!!! I even have a clearance rack with entry level $25 and below lotions...at 40% off and they just sit. Again, its because of how we educate our clients...Dba-a needs a training!! wow, there, i'm all vented out and ready to go to the salon!! I think its going to be a great Loton sales day for me...this fired up!!!! (thanks dba-s) ![]() |

We don't do that many spec. orders, but keep the customers happy. If they are dead set on one thing, accomodate them and make $. It's all about customer satisfaction. Period. |

I will sell $500 lotion if some idiot will by it. I do need some schooling but and would love to hear what new expensive ingredients are in the expensive lotions. And I'd even better love to know how much or actually how little of these expensive ingredients are in the products. More than likely a couple of drops. northtanman- Show me the $! |

I don't know what you mean about "show me the money" but today i worked...we are only open from 11 til 2...3 hours. we made over $400. my newest employee sold a bottle of DS Freedom @ $63. She's only been working about 3 weeks. ![]() I spend alot of time with my employees on products and explaining how important and good they are for your skin. If you don't believe in the products...neither will your employee's. I can only sell what i believe in and i believe, you pay for what you get. (at least with DS products) Personally i only use the most expensive products. Why? Because i want the very best ingredients for my skin while tanning. Did you ever see that movie...Something about Mary? Do you remember the old gal that tanned like a maniac...i'd like to use her in a poster...of someone whom tans frequently...without a high quality tanning lotion!! ![]() It sounds like you believe in selling expensive lotions...just that you don't believe in the lotions themselves. i think you and your employee's would sell more...if you believed in what you sell!! Try a training seminar...go to a trade show...try a manufacturers webinar...it all works. Read up on their info. We in this industry do not need salon owners that don't believe in the products! We need to know, so we can educate all out clients on the proper use of such. "anything is better than nothing, some are better than others" Use a high quality indoor tanning lotion while tanning. "your skin will thank you" ![]() ps, I have Black on order!!! Last edited by northtanman : 6th January 2008 at 06:00 PM.

Drying out of your skin? Premature aging of your skin? I find those to be the top 2...i personally want the best moisturizers for my skin and the best anti-aging ingredients. So, i don't use the most expensive cause i think it will out tan dramatically a less expensive lotion...heck, my level one beds give off great color...if i want more color...i can just upgrade and use HP...But i always use the best, which happens to be the most expensive as well. Answer me this....are you a "man" reason i ask, is that most women already believe in high quality skin care products...most men don't! Let me ask you another, how old are you? I get the feeling you are'nt even 30 years old? Because if you were, you'd already be looking in the mirror and seeing why its so important to use higher quality tanning lotions while tanning. (wrinkles) My seminar is over!! Please educate yourself on lotions!!! ![]() |
