| Rookie | Buy Tanning Lotion they have all different brands of tanning lotions on sale for half the retail price. how is this possible? are these being sold to them by the same people that salon owners get their lotions through? ![]() |

Take a look at Darktans, he doesn't have a problem screwing over all of us and then complains when he gets screwed over. |

| theres always Plan B | once again... Most of the people who buy lotions in my salon would never buy lotions online. There are just 2 different types of people. I think if the person has a history of buying other things online, they will be more prone to buying lotions online anyway... If I was the only one doing it, it would be one thing.. but there are so many companies and websites out there, it just makes sense to sell them online, because I can buy a higher quantity of them for a lower price and make more money in my salons. I'm not starting an online business out of it... I just stock up on a few lotions that do very well in my salons. I mean, honestly... If someone is going to buy the lotion online, then there is nothing you can do about it... and I am sure you would all agree that if they are going to buy online anyway.. they mine as well buy from us salon owners then some wholesale company or website. Also, we have a better knowledge of the products since we use them and see them being used everyday. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but thats how I feel. and honestly... how about during your slow seasons when profits are low???? from a business perspective, it just makes sense. You need to realize that over 10% of the selling price goes back to ebay/paypal. I sell on ebay, not lotions though (Fetchyellowdog if you want to check). I could not make enought profit to waste my time. I have asked questions on some sellers on ebay and I got a very honest answer from one who admitted that they sell to other salons as their business and can get it much cheaper than a salon.......who would that be describing? A distibutor that is who. This seller sold over 3000 lotions on ebay PLUS has their own seperate store they as you to buy from after your ebay purchase.....so I will guess they sell 6000+ bottles a year online! |

![]() If business is so bad in offseason...then advertise and get customers in. How about making some sales to lock your customers in through slow season. Maybe introduce EFT's so that you are still charging them even in off season. There are many things you can do to survive comfortably in off season. Maybe you can sell crack on the streets in off season. ![]() __________________ ![]() www.ChronosMarketing.com ____________________________________________ The problem nowadays is stupidity. Advertise, email, text, etc. get them in to your store where you can build a sale or most importantly keep them tanning. |

| Rookie | yeah, i clearly remember. when i went to forever tans convention in nc, the rep for skinscience said that they keep a serial-like number on every bottle that they sell. they try to keep most of their lotions, if not all of them off of the internet market so they say. please don't take my word on this, this was about two years ago. they may have changed their policies and whatnot. but..i felt secure with their products when they said that. was that all part of their marketing scheme? i know, i am not a salon owner (yet), but have been doing research for the past couple of year and back then, didn't really stop to think how much this could impact a salon owner's sales. i've read in other's threads, like the ebay/lotion one, that the owner had to switch around or is planning to just because of the majority of the lines that she carries is being sold online. i think that's really unfair. |
