Tell them you don't burn people. And tell them their tans are less effective going without lotion.

Hahah you could play "Let's Make a Deal!"

If you burn, I'll let you tan free the text time...but they have to show you the burn because as we know....Tricky Tricksters are everywhere.

Dry skin reflects UV light and burns where as properly moisturized skin accepts the light more readily and kick starts the tanning process in under a minute vs. 6-7 minutes without an accelerator.

Not to mention that properly accelerated skin will also build and hold a tan longer as it's the correct moisture and vitamins and nutrients vs. not using anything.

That's hard to convince them of when they're getting tanned in a 7 minute max bed.

My response is word for word " We would have to change our name to 20 Minute Burn, instead of 20 Minute Tan"

They chuckle and we earn them as a customer from there on out.

My problem is, I can convince them that they need to use lotion to get a better tan. But how can I convince them that lotion accelorates the tanning process without doing the same with the burning process......I dont know if I'm making sense with this question.

Let's hope your customers are coming to you to tan and prevent burning outside. I have read somewhere that an indoor base tan is equivalent to using SPF 20 outdoors where they do burn if out there for longer than 15 minutes without sunscreen.

say this. "No one ever explained tanning accelerators to you did they?"

Indoor lotion doesn't "magnify" uv light.

Dry skin lets all the higher energy burning ray thru but reflects a lot of the BROWNING RAYS. Moist skin lets the BROWNING rays thru too which is what you are paying for.

The ACCELERATOR part of the lotion is like "vitamins for your skin"...it lets the skin make MORE of the BROWN per visit than without it. You either come in less for the same color or come in the same ammount for a darker tan. It has NOTHING to do with increasing the burning of a bed. That is time in the bed ONLY.
