Just as the title says. I am curious what your 4 favorite tanning lotion lines are. What are your favorites to stock?

I was planning on stocking

Supre

Fiji Blend
Fiesta Sun
I am just not 100% sure yet

I only carry two. Devoted and Fiji Blend. Until the new lotions come out this fall and things can always change.

Your top lotions are the ones you want them to be.

Uvalux has a seminar in August, In coquitlam. I think the 25th. you should check it out before you settle. they are some of the nicest people, and i get the best discounts from them also. I've dealt with all the distributors based in BC. these guys are the leaders IMO.

I love you!!!!!

Why Supre?

Years of direct selling to beauty suppliers plus allowing internet diversion.... Yet you still sell them?

I guess diversion does not matter!

What would you have Supre do, Greg? Try to shut down eBay listings?

I'll tell you what.. I'll buy some of your ready-made products and list them on eBay.. and you go ahead and file a VERO complaint with eBay and get the auctions shut down.. you can yell from a mountain top that you helped fight diversion..

Then I will promptly sue you in federal court and you will have your ass handed to you and learn an expensive lesson in first sale doctrine..

THEN we'll see how much of a big-mouth you are about combating internet diversion..

Supre should stop selling to our clients. We have 3 big beauty supply stores around here and they all sell Supre and Body Drench. When one of my customers that works for a hair salon (that doesn't even have a tanning bed) comes in with that crap, where do you think they get it and how much do you think they paid for it. THey are paying wholesale for the lotion.

I learned that a long time ago when people on here wanted to teach and learn about this business. It just seems like that is all gone now and its "how bad can i make this person look now" kinda site.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

But Supre is selling to the beauty supply because half of the beauty salons out there have tanning beds.. and thus the beauty salons want/need to offer lotions to their clients..

Provided I understand your reasoning.. I really, really, fail to see what Supre is doing wrong here..

Greg deserves to look bad in this thread because Greg is being sneaky about trying to use this thread as a platform for his own gain.

It's a small platform, granted. But the point is relevant.

I guess I fail to see how this was sneaky and he was using this as a platform.

Maybe half of those hair salon might have 1 or 2 tanning beds. Did those hair salons buy those 1 or 2 tanning beds from their beauty suppilers?????? No they didn't. If they wanted to, they could call their local tanning supplier and get anything and everything they wanted to sell in their salon, if they had a tanning bed. But what about those that don't have a tanning bed. Why are they buying a tanning lotion that they buy at wholesale price?

Point being they still offer tanning. Should Brian Oshman refuse to sell a tanning bed to a hair salon?

In Ohio, for example, a hair salon with a single tanning bed goes through the exact same licensing process and has the same training requirements as a full fledged salon does.

But don't get me wrong I'd be happy to have every hair salon in my area be forced to lose their beds! However the fact is they're licensed, atleast here, and permitted and after all it's a free country..

Now how does that relate to lotion..

The disagreement here is a fundamental one.. in that we disagree on whether or not a beauty supply store is a reasonable part of a supply chain for tanning lotion products...

Being that, as mentioned above, hair salons can in fact function as tanning salons I see it as completely normal that a hair salon supply store would carry a line of tanning lotions!!

To me it's obvious.

As for the stylists getting tanning lotion half off.. that's too difficult to control and the burden would be too great to even try.. if 10% of all hair stylists tan, how many people in your area is that working out to?

Besides they'd probably just get it from their salon anyway for half-off retail.. it's not uncommon for companies to give an employee discount..

Anyone can sell a used bed to anyone. But to buy new, you need to buy from a distributor or dealer and anyone (to my knowledge) can buy from there as well.

Lotions....that is the bigger question.

Here, beauty supply stores require a licence in order to buy products in their store. (esthetics licences) Nothing to do with tanning. When I go there, they won't even let me in the door because I don't have one of those licences. But ANY licenced person, whether they work or own a hair or nail salon, can go in there and buy tanning lotion at cost.

Now, if Supre sold ONLY to tanning supply stores, then you would have to have a tanning bed in order to order your lotions.

Because the distributor that sallacious is currently dealing with pushes supre as their #1 line.

Jeff, in canada, the beauty supply stores sell it, not just to hair salons with tanning beds, but to every jo blow who has any kind of estetic ticket, they don't even have to have a shop! or work for anyone! YET, us tanning salon owners are ONLY allowed to buy the tanning lotions, but not allowed to buy the other stuff sold in the beauty stores. How many of my clients ive seen buying supre at the beauty stores for themselves and friends, and then infront of everyone in my salon, say im ripping them off in price, as they get the lotions at my cost.
