| I think as salon owners WE should require all manufactures to have equipment (user and detailed maintenance) manuals available to us to download in a PDF format. Since we have to have the user manuals available to the public, and or authority having jurisdiction, it is difficult sometimes in keeping tract of older manuals. I need to adjust the spring tension on a 6 year old bed, the top won’t stay up, and yes I had the gas shocks replaced, but can I find ANYTHING about this bed online at the manufacture’s website? NO. Probably because it is an older unit, and not the latest and greatest. How difficult can it be for them (the manufactures) to scan in old maintenance and users manuals and have them available to us online? If you don’t know how, I am sure there is an OfficeMax, Staples, or Kinkos somewhere in your city. This should also apply to all equipment we have to deal with including spray tanning equipment, light meters, and bed timers... although ADI does offer manuals on line, but just not for older equipment. If you manufactured it no matter what or when it was, make it available. Extra credit: Have electrical schematics of the bed equipment available also. Phiper |

| Moderator | Phiper.... You Said it!!! Here in Florida we have to have manuals for every unit on site 24 hours a day...period!! On line would be nice...even if we had to register in with the serial number of the unit to get the info needed....that would be fine with me also... Thanks for sharing..it truly is needed... | Rookie | Okay I am a big rookie, still trying to get my small business loan, I have learned alot from this site, but what I want to know has anyone used those companies geared toward helping out a salon owner, not one that wants to be a franchise--but does SunCo or JLW construction ring a bell with any one. I need advise, good or bad on whether to try one for assistance. They state they help with build out, leasing supplies. It sounds to good to be true.---Traci |

A good bed distributer will be willing to help with some arraingements as far as electrical, room size, etc. If you absolutely have no clue and have lots of money to blow, then you can use a contractor, but you can save a lot by doing your own contracting. Who are you thinking of getting beds thru? |

If it was made by ets you can pull a manual. Puretan, Dr Muller and others already have the manuals going for the new equoipment now they just need to keep the old equipment avaiable as well. If they do that then they can not charge you $10 for the manuals anymore, lol... Thats drives me crazy. Phiper -- What bed do you have that you need a manual for and maybe I can help? Gottotanfl -- Is that unit a 1993 Alisun Sunquest pro 26 wolff system or is it newer then that and made by ETS? If you email me I will email you a picture to see which unit you have and see if I can find you a manual. Kirsch--I dont know JLW construction but I know they just now opened a huge warehouse in Ohio. I see that you are there have you gone to the warehouse to see what they have to offer. |

"If they do that then they can not charge you $10 for the manuals anymore," $10.00 ???? A little excessive, don't ya think? I can see $1.99 each for a pdf version, and $5.00 for a (hard) xerox copy. Business Opportunity: Setup a business, contact each manufacture, secure the rights to redistribute their manuals (online) for a fee of course, with a small royalty fee paid back to the manufacture. The whole thing could be an automated ebusiness. The bed is a UWE "Big Bear". I did contact PCMarketing and they are going to email me a manual. (Thanks Kory!) But, this doesn't help the next guy who also has a Big Bear. They still need to put this info online. If they don't, see business opportunity above. Phiper |

I have a UWE Big Bear manual but I could not get pc marketing to email it had to be mailed to me and cost $10 but i got it. Thats was fine tho b/c I like to have original copies on file. Dr Muller sent me a manual via email a few weeks back and none of the pictures came thru. Almost every page had empty boxes on them where there was a picture. They were very nice tho and quick with getting me the manual. I was VERY happy with them. They are also put the manuals online but they are just for the newer equipment. |
