| Hall of Famer | When I Started searching for a good location and I was ready to start lease negotiations, someone beat me to the punch. They opened up a fairly nice salon, but they have all ETS. low to high. About 10 miles away striaght line, someone has the same setup. Differnt owners, non franchise. 9 miles from me, there is a full boat of ETS gear as well. I didn't price ETS at all since I actually tried their stuff, do they give these start ups one heck of a deal or what? I know how expensive some better machines cost, I couldn't buy everything brand new. |

In recent years the equipment has improved quite a bit from what I understand. Are they undercutting you in price or something? __________________ "Courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, integrity, heart, talent, guts, and beauty. To hell with sugar and spice. " |

| Hall of Famer | No, they aren't competition except the one, and they are charging the same as me for the most part. most of my customers tell me how they don't feel like they get anything out of their units. They charge $25.00 for their velocity and only allow people in it for 10 mins.. So when people ask abotu the magic and I say its much stronger they question well why is it a longer session. |

My opinion on equipment would probably get Brian, Din, and W8 all over me...lol. I honestly think its a glorified light socket. And that while you want to have nice equipment thats easy to work on, as long as you have your stuff wired right, the lamps you put in the "light sockets" are what produce the results. IMO. I would care much more about what they have lamped their beds with and a lot less about the brand name on the light socket. And if they are producing results, then I would be concerned, because they probably have a lot lower overhead than you. Other than that have a good mix... __________________ "Courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, integrity, heart, talent, guts, and beauty. To hell with sugar and spice. " |

I have a Velocity and I know its such a low UVB there is no reason for people to only go 10 minutes per session. Its a 15 minute bed. Of course they will see nothing only going 10 minutes on that unit. Its columns are too far from the body to get as good of results as from a magic. It still tans, you just need a few more sessions than Magic and they should go the full session |

Tanning beds are more then a light socket. The better engineered units produce more output from enhanceed circuit design and bed geometry. It is not just the lamp you put in it. Also, the better beds are more rugged, have better cooling systems and are more reliable. Cheap beds use cheap parts that wear out quickly, have thinner wiring that burns up and poor strutural integrity that colapses in a short time with heavy use. The old saying goes, you get what you pay for. You may save money in the beginning but the next season when you have beds that are constantly down, they will cost you much more in the long run on service, parts, and the inability to accomodate all of your customers, especially if you only have one of a bed that keeps breaking down. Cheap beds are not money makers.

| All Star Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: NW Posts: 84 | Have any of you actually had ETS equiptment in your salons? How was it? (please only resond to that if you have actually purchased their equiptment) I am new to all of this and they were the only company I could originally find. I am just now hearing about alot of other equiptment brands and I am actually really schocked at how many there are out there. Almost all of the tanning salons that I have visited in my area are ETS. Honestly reading this is scaring me!!!! Can any of you give me the websites of some of the other manufacturers so that I can do some more shopping around before my purchase. |

www.drmbeds.com www.sunergoline.com www.isoitalia.com www.ultrabronz.com a few others, but those are the beds that can set you apart from the ETS lovers in your area. You can also do a search on here and see how the other beds stand up to each other. Don't just listen to the sales guy, they are great people, but of course bias.
