Default HP Facial Size?

Anyone have any theory behind the mentality when companies choose the size and number of facials to install in their beds. For instance Sportarredo puts like 4 x 4 billion watt facials in all levels of their beds(I know I'm exagerating) while Heartland puts 3 x 400 watt facials in theirs. I'm not knocking Heartland lots of companies use 400 watt facials, but why not put some real blasters in the face because I've been told before that 400watters are not worth a crap at 12minutes. Is it cost, or do compaies like Ultrasun and Sportarredo just overkill. No real reason for my question, I'm just wondering.

When it comes to HP lamps, power (wattage) means squat. It's all about the glass.

Usually the lower wattage ones have single sheet glass allowing more b and IR heat, while 1000+ watt is a more traditional double glass config.

Usually 500-600W Hp lamps are the most efficient for UV output to watts. However every bed manufacturer does different things. Different ballast, reflectors & Filter glass types will make a huge difference.

Ergoline uses a mirrored glass filter, 500W lamp & Glass parabolic reflector. This will easily compete with an old Orbit 1000W Wire lead lamp, bent aluminum reflector, and Blue/Clear glass mix. The Ergoline may even feel a bit hotter, but at the end of the day the results will be similar. Dr. Muller GiantSun/Sungate has a pretty sick set up, they use a 1000W lamp, 750-800W ballast, some crazy Blue parabolic reflector, and mirror glass. This thing puts out like a 1500-2000W lamp would.

Most standard 400W set ups use a blue/clear glass which are good enough for Level 1 units, units like Ergoline Ambition with the same 400W facial & similar reflector type, with mirrored glass will read about 25-30% higher on a 5.0 meter.

My Dr. Kern Viva 4's use 4x 400W HP lamps with the mirrored glass. The output on those are excellent. It's pretty intense and gives amazing colour if you run it for 12min session.

The reflectors are amazing as well. If my HP beds had the same type of setup it would be a killer bed. Like the Ergo 650.

boy, if there is'nt some truth to this comment....
when i show people around our salon and am talking about the upgrades how the facials in the ergo 650 give you nearly vacation color in one session if you already have a bit of a base tan and i can give you the full 15 minute session...then i show them a omega with 2000 watt facials...that are more of a browning sensation....more gentle...sompared to the 650...but color is still surfacing some 2 and 3 days later...that the color is brown compared to the ting of reddening induced color from the 650...cause the 650 lets a bit of uvb thru...then i go to the orbits and mention how they have 1000 watt facials that give you some of that instant brown...almost hard to see color ( cause it nearly all uva)as its so filtered...but at 1000 watt facials in the orbits to 2000 watt facial in the omega's....then our least expensive upgrade the tanamerica fiesta's have entry level facials of 400 watts...BIG difference in the facials of the 650 to the omega's to the orbits, down to just 400 watts in the fiesta;s...light to medium complected individuals will like the effects of the orbits and omega's...and dark complections love the effects of the ergo.
did you notice i never mentioned the wattage of the ergo? with its new parabolic design and single glass VIT lense's...its hard for a person to understand how the ergo;s could kick azz the way they do...but they do and i'm a 650 fanatic!! love it, but also occasionally love to get in a omega and flip at about 13-15 minutes,,,, now theres some great color!!! (that lasts!!)
